Val: One of the many, many qualities of this blog is the clarity of the writing. But I have to confess that I'm going to need at least a couple of scotches to read this one. (Just kidding: Happy fishing!)

  • Boccaccio,

A certain amount of alcohol is needed to come up with such sheer, unbridled, intellectual and artistic genius.

  • George L. Moneo

And modesty, too. As Oscar Levant said, "What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left."

  • This is the best blog post ever in the history of blog posts.

  • We have to see a photograph of that 3-lb. bass.
    Seeing is believing!
    No excuses, please.

"Sheer, unbridled, intellectual and artistic genius" -- Well, the post does have a Joycean quality to it, like something out of "Ulysses," the last 20 pages or so. I think Val's making history here (and givin' us some pretty fancy writin' too!) In any case, I'm having my first scotch. Cheers, everyone!

  • Fabulous post, Val! You read like Tom Wolfe, not just in style but in substance. I wish he'd see this!
