  • Ooh! it's at the rialto! That's within walking distance of my house. Sweet. Maybe I can talk the husband into going this weekend!

    Thanks!

  • Hey! Its not showing in the DC Beltway area? What gives? I hope they open up in more theaters as the weeks go by. I want to see this one, but a plane ticket to Miami would be to much for a movie.

  • Okay, no offense, but it's in English, right?

  • Tony V

i look at movies.com and it doesn't show that the movie is playing. it does open today, right?

  • Adela

Yeah, what about the DC area??
I'll keep me eye out for it at the AFI Silver theatre...

  • George L. Moneo

Steve, like Mel Gibson's previous film, it is spoken in a language other English; this one is spoken in the native language of Matabililand. (I'll give away a Miami Mafia t-shirt to whoever guesses the movie where I took this reference from.)

  • Lou

In Miami, please note that as of today, it's not being shown at Sunset Place. However, as the previously posted list shows, it is playing at the following theatres:

    Regal Palace 18
    LeJeune Cinemas VI
Cobb Theatres - Dolphin 19 Cinema
    Regal South Beach 18
Cobb Theatres - Miami Lakes 17
    AMC Aventura 24

I was dissapointed, some corny lines although I loved the role of the father and uncle. Although the movie is visually stunning and the Che scenes were scary - it really was him! But at least we have to salute Andy for doing this - I hope there are more films on Cuba. We have to be realistic and understand that this movie will be attacked. I saw this in NYC to a packed house.

I will take what we can get.

They should make Against All Hope into a movie.

Where can I find out when it will be playing in the DFW metroplex?

  • I've been looking forward to this film since I was in Iraq. Too bad I'm not back home right now, where I know it's being shown. That being said, if any of you know of any theater in the Denver/Colorado Springs area that's playing it, please let me know. I've Googled the hell out of it, but I can't find anything.

  • Emily -

According to Magnolia Pictures' Web site, the movie will play next Thursday, May 4, at the USA Film Festival, at the AMC NorthPark 15, which I guess is near North Park Mall (been a while since I have been in that part of Dallas.) 7 p.m. I heard through the grapevine that Andy Garcia will be in attendance.

It will then show at the Inwood Theater on Lemmon Avenue, starting May 26. Maybe if the film is successful before then, it will be available at more theaters in DFW.

  • Matabililand

    From "King Hearts and Coronets?"

    Starring Alec Guinness?

  • George L. Moneo

Marc, you're obviously a fan of great films! Kind Hearts and Coronets is one of my favorites and wickedly funny movie. Send your address via the info email link and I'll send you the t-shirt.

  • Now Playing

I'm blatantly ripping-off this list from Val's website, but it's because I want everyone to run out and see The Lost City.

    Showtimes below the break.

  • barrocas

Does anybody know the reason behind the cancellation at Sunset Place? I saw it on South Beach last night and it was a full house. There was a line waiting for the late showing when we arrived and applause from the audience at the end of the film.

  • Marc Masferrer

The movie was a hit at the few theaters it was showing, taking in an estimated $10,000 per screen. The #2 per screen earnings were for "United 93," about $6,500 per screen. I have more info here.

  • mandingo

No offense, but in NYC where I saw it the people in the movie house were snickering on how corny some of the scenes were. I don't understand why someone would need to bring tissues. I am a pretty emotional person and I cry at movies but not this one. This is just my opinion. Maybe I have to see it twice.

  • barrocas

I didn't use any tissues but I have to agree that it is a very emotional movie. Can you imagine kissing your mother and father goodbye knowing you will never see them again?

  • Alberto-Q

I pray this will inspire someone, not far down the road, to make a solid movie about the heroes and heroines of El Escambray, to belie the myth the people of Cuba never opposed kaSStro, never offered resistance.

  • barrocas

Does anyone have any information about the soundtrack?

  • Kallistos

This must replace United 93 as the must see movie of the week for me.

Finally someone doing a realistic portrayal of pre-Castro Cuba.

  • Olgy

Di anyone find out if it's showing in colorado springs? I'd love to go see it.
