The worst and the dimmest
Part of the Camelot mythology that surrounds JFK is that he was surrounded by advisors that were considered to be the "best and the brightest". There's even a David Halberstam book by the same title. Well the trend makers have decided that Barack Hussein Obama is to be positioned as the historical heir to John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Not only that, he's not just supposed to be surrounded by "the best and the brightest" be himself is to carry the title. We've heard all about how "smart" he is. How it's refreshing to have an "intellectual" in the White House as opposed to a born again dumb hillbilly (who has two Ivy league degrees on his mantle and had served as governor of one of the most important states previously).
Yes, Barack Obama is supposed to be one of the "best and the brightest" but I have a sneaking suspicion that he's one of the worst and the dimmest. His first month in office he's been rolled by congress, he's bristled at being asked legitimate questions by reporters and more recently been caught orchestrating a press conference. Why would a President that is supposed to be so smart need to be in control of the questions he's going to be asked? Shouldn't he have the capacity to answer questions lobbed at him by far inferior intellects?
His cabinet appointments have already been an unmitigated disaster, it seems every person he names or is in close contact has been unpatriotic (if we are to accept the liberal premise that paying taxes is patriotic).
I think that as the next four years unfold there is a possibility that we will come to learn the the emperor truly has no clothes. His biggest mistake was to attach his name to this anchor of a "stimulus" bill. It will drag him down because there's very little in that legislation that can remotely have a positive effect on the economy and a whole lot that will adversely affect the sick patient.
Keep your eyes open. My instincts tell me one thing: empty suit.

Say what you want about Bill Clinton, he was (and is) a master at this kind of stuff...

Well, Halberstam meant the title ironically. The Best and The Brightest, according to Halberstam, couldn't figure out that Vietnam and a swollen welfare state would be a problem.
Obama is an articulate bull shit artist without substance.
He's not really articulate, just uses a lot of big words. Articulate implies that he's able to communicate complex ideas in a way that others can understand, which would require him to attempt to communicate a real idea at some point. I'm still waiting for that to happen.
Clinton was articulate. He was completely full of shit, but he was extremely articulate. Cuomo and Kennedy were the best of the previous century in terms of communicating. Bobby Kennedy Jr. is actually very good, much better than Obama. Less rehearsed, more direct.
Notice that these are all Democrats. Reagan was called the Great Communicator, but he connected on an emotional level far more than he ever did on an intellectual one. If forced to come down from the 100,000 foot view he lost most of his effectiveness. But anyway, maybe if the Republicans can come up with someone capable of communicating true conservative principles (not neo-con bullshit) in an effective way they can start winning elections even when the Democrats haven't spent 4 - 8 years fucking everything up or even if they don't run a Gore-Kerry type educated idiot against them.
