We're receiving information that Cuban guitarist Ciro Diaz of Porno Para Ricardo and La Babosa Azul has been arrested by the castro regime. According the reports the arrest took place in Placetas (Villa Clara) in central Cuba when Diaz traveled to that city to lend solidarity to Jorge Luis García Pérez "Antunez".

But I thought raul castro was a "pragmatic reformer." What happened?

In August of last year the regime's henchmen similarly arrested Porno Para Ricardo's leader Gorki Aguila. He was charged with "social dangerousness" but the charges were reduced after an outcry from the international musical and intellectual community drew attention to the case.

Ciro Diaz is going to need everyone's help in raising the profile of his case, especially with so many indications that the Obama administration is going to make significant concessions to the regime even while it continues to violate the human rights agreements it has signed with the international community. If the U.S. is going to concede anything to Cuba there MUST be preconditions like guaranteed freedom for Cuba's prisoners of conscience and a moratorium on repressive acts like the arbitrary arrests of musicians who don't tow the communist party's line.
