“U.S. Companies Cannot do Business with Cuba”–says U.S. Think-Tank “Expert”
"Daniel Erikson, author of "The Cuba Wars," said there's one problem with lifting the travel ban -- the trade embargo, which
stops U.S. companies from doing business in Cuba."
Again and AGAIN and AGAIN!--we are living in a Media realm that makes the stuff Alice found after tumbling down the rabbit hole seem perfectly, perfectly logical.
Erikson is Pres. of the "Inter-American Dialogue" (that also employs Marifeli Perez-Stable)
This outfit along with the Lexington Inst. is quoted in fully 98 % percent of all MSM sound-bites on Cuba.
Life is full of enough time-consuming complications for most Americans....So they might scan these articles in their daily paper and say:..."Gosh, that's awful how we can't do business with Cuba?--just 90 miles away? Yet we do so much business with China?"
Not knowing that: the U.S. IS CUBA'S BIGGEST FOOD SUPPLIER AND 4TH BIGGEST COMMERCIAL PARTNER!!....
Got THAT?!..Got THAT?!..Got THAT, MSM???!!!!!!!!
Erikson knows that datum full well. His motives however?....well, the Lexington Institute's motives come to mind here

Do you ever wonder what all these people will do (if and when) the embargo is removed? Are they all going to be out of a job? Will they be receiving kickbacks and fringe benefits? Just wondering...
Erikson is not the president of the Inter-American Dialogue, Peter Hakim is. His book on Cuba isn't terrible and surprisingly even-handed considering the source...he's not a hater like Ann Louise Bardach (that commie c***). He makes little to no judgement calls about our Reps and what motivates them to back up the embargo, you rarely find that any book not written by conservative. Erikson is not a total prick. He should not have spoken so broadly but I believe he is speaking specifically about companies associated with travel.
I often wonder if there's more that we can do to counter this avalanche of pro-Castro propaganda from the media? For instance, now that so many newspapers are practically bankrupt, if we could buy one [i.e. the Miami Herald], but then again, Reinaldo Arenas tried to convince Cuban American millionaires to establish a publishing house and buy a newspaper and their response [to his dismay] was, THERE'S NO MONEY IN THAT. Heck, Leon Ichaso had to morgage his house in order to fund his marvelous anti-Castro film, "Bitter Sugar," because he couldn't get proper funding from the Cuban community.
Tragically, the MSM is horribly slanted, but I think that there is a bit more that we could do if our movers and shakers had their heart in it and if we as a people had a history of institution building.
newspapers are dying for a reason, buying one will not change a thing. the only conservative paper, the Washington Times, loses cash hand over fist but is funded by the Moonies (its still a great paper). The Commies love to play the victims to the big bad gringos who wont trade with them. and to be honest even if we did they would try to play the victim of the big bad gringo exploiter.
