newspapers are dying for a reason, buying one will not change a thing. the only conservative paper, the Washington Times, loses cash hand over fist but is funded by the Moonies (its still a great paper). The Commies love to play the victims to the big bad gringos who wont trade with them. and to be honest even if we did they would try to play the victim of the big bad gringo exploiter.

I often wonder if there's more that we can do to counter this avalanche of pro-Castro propaganda from the media? For instance, now that so many newspapers are practically bankrupt, if we could buy one [i.e. the Miami Herald], but then again, Reinaldo Arenas tried to convince Cuban American millionaires to establish a publishing house and buy a newspaper and their response [to his dismay] was, THERE'S NO MONEY IN THAT. Heck, Leon Ichaso had to morgage his house in order to fund his marvelous anti-Castro film, "Bitter Sugar," because he couldn't get proper funding from the Cuban community.

Tragically, the MSM is horribly slanted, but I think that there is a bit more that we could do if our movers and shakers had their heart in it and if we as a people had a history of institution building.

Erikson is not the president of the Inter-American Dialogue, Peter Hakim is. His book on Cuba isn't terrible and surprisingly even-handed considering the source...he's not a hater like Ann Louise Bardach (that commie c***). He makes little to no judgement calls about our Reps and what motivates them to back up the embargo, you rarely find that any book not written by conservative. Erikson is not a total prick. He should not have spoken so broadly but I believe he is speaking specifically about companies associated with travel.

Do you ever wonder what all these people will do (if and when) the embargo is removed? Are they all going to be out of a job? Will they be receiving kickbacks and fringe benefits? Just wondering...
