Welcome to the club, John

John McCain floor speech:

“If it seems like I’m angry, it’s because I am,” McCain said, taking the White House to task for treating the bill as leftover business — and not subject to the full measure of earmark reform promised by candidate Obama.

“Last year’s business?” McCain asked, incredulous. “The president will sign this appropriations bill into law. It is the president’s business. It is the president of the United States’ business. It is the president of the United States’ business to do what he said — stated — when we were in debate seeking the support of the American people — where he said he would work to eliminate earmarks.”

“We need earmark reform and when I’m president, I will go line by line to make sure we’re not spending money unwisely,” McCain said, reading back Obama’s words at a debate last fall. “That’s the quote, the promise of the president of the United States made to the American people in a debate with me in Oxford, Miss. So what is brought to the floor today — 9,000 earmarks.…So much for change.”

Did it just dawn on you that our new president is a liar who would said anything to get elected? Didn't you realize that you were running against a no holds barred socialist? Obama could care less about keeping his promise on earmarks, just like didn't keep his promise on lobbyists in his administration, just like he'll renege on his promise about keeping the embargo. There's only one aim to this administration, get us as far down the path to economic ruin as possible. A day late and dollar short, I'm afraid, my friends.

  • And to all those leftist wankers out there that that blow this off -- it's clear they are to busy enjoying the big you know what in their mouths....

    I agree.
I asked questions of babaluers. I wanted to know what they thought were the motivations of the liberals. Power? Genuine concern for this country's welfare? Or Subversion?
Seeng the markets tumble with no end in sight, seeing jobs disappearing, seeing nothing positive so far, you'd think that someone on the other side would take a breath. No, they are going full steam ahead which leads me to limit the above choices to two.
I am sad to say that I am fearing that Obama is going to be our Chavez. He won't be satisfied until he brings this country to its knees and we are beholden to him for everything, then he will declare himself dictator for life. Everything is going down in such a dizzying rapidity.
Is there any liberal adorer of the messiah who is ready to recant yet?

  • Honey, absent a change to the Constitution, at worst, we have him for 8 years. 8 years can go buy quickly. The question is will be all be in the poor house because of this socialist putz.

  • Many (not all or even most) liberals are happy because, aside from being masochistic, they enjoy seeing Wall Street and corporate America getting slammed.

    Cigar Mike,

If we rate Obama for has happened in his administration for the last 7 weeks I'll say 8 years of his presidency will be an American catastrophe.

  • Honey

Why is there this assumption of an eight year run? I can hardly stand the first month or so. Please, there has to be some relief in 2010 and permanent relief in 2012.
