Georgetown covered over name of Jesus at White House’s request
Consistent with all we know about this administration. BTW, Georgetown is a Catholic University. To have asked in the first place is offensive. Is it a violation of the school's First Amendment rights? I'll leave that to the lawyers.
Georgetown University says it covered over the monogram “IHS”--symbolizing the name of Jesus Christ—because it was inscribed on a pediment on the stage where President Obama spoke at the university on Tuesday and the White House had asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols there.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the “IHS” monogram that had previously adorned the stage at Georgetown’s Gaston Hall was still covered up--when the pediment where it had appeared was photographed by CNSNews.com.
I read this article this morning and was appalled not only at the fact that the White House made the request to cover up the cross and the "IHS" symbol, but that Georgetown University being a Catholic university would oblige and concede to this request. Obama wants to make sure that he is not mistaken for a "Christian" president of a "Christian" nation. After all, he said we were not a Christian nation. He obviously is not a Christian. You cannot be ashamed of Christ and call yourself a Christian. He is a hypocrit, a liar and I'm just disgusted.
And this at a Jesuit school.............

I suppose that damn nasty wall paintings of Touch Down Jesus, and Our Lady of Victory, will just have to be spray painted over with some secular graffiti that will make the big O feel like a homey.

Considering the way the Catholic Church has prostituted itself with the Cuban Communist regime nothing surprises me anymore. I've always known that the Catholic Church leans towards Socialism.

Even CNS News doesn't claim that the administration asked specifically to cover the IHS symbol. Georgetown University received a request to cover all Georgetown-related symbols with American flags, etc. for PR purposes. Annoying, but par for the course for presidential events. I get the feeling that if the only thing left were an IHS symbol over Obama's head, the right wing would be up in arms that he is portraying himself as Jesus on the cross.

Then you must be very obtuse. Considering that Georgetown University IS a Catholic institution, it is to be expected that religious symbols would be ALL over the place. If all religious symbols had been left alone no one "from the right" would have given it another thought. We are not as DUMB as those from the left.
However, we should be up in arms that Obama was intentionally asked to sully Georgetown's hallowed halls.
The bottom line here is that Georgetown University officials should have displayed moral strength based our their Catholic faith and refused the White House request, period.
The President should have taken his speech someplace else that allowed this kind of bullshit.
Unfortunately a Catholic University (out all places) played Peter’s role during Christ arrest’s denying the Lord when it most counted.

I have a niece going to Georgetown, but I never realized it was founded by Jesuits until now. That's interesting. I'll have to ask her more about this sometime.
