Where I explode your heads
Just when you thought the whole Black Caucus/Cuba thing couldn't possibly get any worse:
[U.S. Rep. Emanuel] Cleaver called his trip the most interesting he had ever taken. He said he preached Sunday at an Episcopal church where he was allowed to speak freely and meet privately with congregation members. An interpreter was at Cleaver’s side throughout his trip.
“To see all of these myths melt right in front of my eyes was something to behold,” he said. “We’ve been led to believe that the Cuban people are not free, and they are repressed by a vicious dictator, and I saw nothing to match what we’ve been told.”
He said delegation members did not discuss Cuba’s checkered human-rights record, although Cuban government members raised the issue and said they would talk about that and any other topic if the U.S. wanted to open discussions.
Raul Castro reminded Cleaver of the late baseball great Buck O’Neil because he could so ably remember names and dates. Castro, 77, insisted to Cleaver that he was not like his brother, who was known for long-winded speeches.
“He’s one of the most amazing human beings I’ve ever met,” Cleaver said.
I'd tell you I'm speechless, but it doesn't even come close.
The lunatics are truly running the asylum.

So I have to ask the (obvious) question, then: if it's all a pack of lies, why are people still boarding 'rafts' (that is far too strong a word, I know), braving shark-infested waters to come here when things are just fantastic in the tropical version of Disney that Fidel and co. have built?
He had the right to discuss human rights issues and chose not to take advantage of it. Such bravery.
I tell you I think we should start calling them the CCC, the Congressional Communist Caucus. The name fits them the best. Or should we call them the CUIC? I'll leave you to figure that one out.
Nah, I still like the CCC.
Typical leftist, ass-licking, abysmally ignorant, pig dog, bumbaclot disgrace of a human being, and waste of a sperm. He calls himself a man of the cloth? This dumbf**k is the same type of neanderthal would have have accepted the Nazi's explanation that the Jews were well treated at Treblinka.
I'm anti abortion, but with scumbags like this in the world, perhaps my position needs some reconsideration.
Honey, better yet, we should call them the:
Congressional Unit of Neanderthal Treacherous Scumbags.
The members of this Congressional Red Caucus have won the number one spot in my list for the kick in the ass that will require major anal surgery to remove the boot.
Just sent this out. We must insist that Albio respond to this.

Dear Congressman Sires,
I am writing to express my profound disappointment and outrage at the recent comments attributed to the members of the Congressional Black Caucus during their recent visit to Cuba. As a Cuban-American, I could not believe that members of the United States Congress would meet with Fidel and Raúl Castro and not only fail to mention the issue of human rights violations on the island but would publicly celebrate and fawn over the Castro brothers. I need not tell you that for fifty years the Castro regime has divided families, driven millions into exile, and denied the Cuban people a free press, freedom of assembly and freedom of movement. There is nothing to celebrate about a dictatorship built on terror and lies.
I would hope that as the lone Cuban-American Democrat in the House of Representatives and as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee you would issue a strong and public rebuke to Congresswoman Lee and the other members of the Congressional Black Caucus for their shameful celebration of the Cuban regime. As our nation begins a new round of debate regarding our relationship with Cuba, it is important that those who know the regime’s sad and violent history best speak-up for the Cuban people. I am counting on you.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to receiving your response.
And, on top of everything else, Cleaver is supposed to be, or poses as, a man of God. Can you spell blasphemy? I can, and more to the point, God sure can.
But never mind. We need to stop getting angry, completely justified though that is, and start getting even (insofar as possible), not just with this particular group of nauseating hypocrites but with everybody who plays along with Castro, Inc. However, more importantly, we need to stop expecting or counting on non-Cubans to EVER come through for us (a 50-year waiting period is more than long enough). Either Cubans (in and out of the island) get truly serious about doing whatever is reasonably in their power to do (or not do) in order to restore Cuba's freedom, or they should just drop the whole thing and shut up already.
I always remember the sad case of an elderly exiled Cuban lady who genuinely hated Castro but still sent every dollar she could scrape up to support over a dozen relatives in Cuba, none of whom were working for a living, and some of whom were openly pro-Castro (but had no problem living off the "empire"). This included her paying all kinds of fees and surcharges imposed by the dictatorship (or its agents here) to squeeze maximum profits out of Cubans abroad. My upbringing didn't allow it, but every time she'd start ranting about how awful Castro was, I felt like saying, "So why are you doing exactly what he wants? You think he gives a damn about what you say, as long as you keep materially supporting him? He's laughing his ass off at you." After she died and the remittances ended, the relatives in Cuba no doubt missed them, but they didn't starve to death or commit suicide. In other words, they managed.
Everyone has the right to choose, but one cannot have it both ways, and it's about time Cubans stopped trying. And it's WAY past time Cubans stopped expecting to get blood from turnips (such as expecting black American politicians who don't need the votes of Cuban-Americans to give a shit about the civil rights of Cubans, black or otherwise).
We either get real or get nowhere.
And by the way, I hope all Babalusians and their Cuban relatives and friends here and in Cuba enjoy their now official status as mythological creatures, as decreed by Rep. Cleaver and cohorts. After all, we're talking about members of the US federal government, and surely they know whereof they speak. Besides, they've gotten their data from the horse's mouth: Castro I and II in the flesh. Not even the BBC would dare question such credible sources. I think I'll be a unicorn. What about you guys?
Asombra, but this is more than just expecting support from these bumbaclots. It the raw stupidity and intentional blindness; it's a total failure of moral character on their part.
This is akin to being in Nazi Germany and accepting Goebbels' explanation that the Jews are in health spas playing golf at that resort called Auschwitz.
This is the same moral failure like their communist idol, Paul Robeson, who knew about Stalin's persecution of Jews and purges, but kept silent, because it was politically convenient for him; heaven forbid a top communist like Robeson coming out and denouncing their defacto leader. It's turning a blind eye.
Like Humberto said, it's like hanging out in the Apartheid era South Africa and saying that blacks there were being treated equally and that there was no discrimination. It's like ignoring the lynchings in the Old South and saying that the blacks were happy and content there.
These dogs have the credibility of the old Iraqi Propaganda Minister.
Mike, the reality of the situation is very, very ugly, as this disgusting CBC farce clearly illustrates. Unfortunately, moral outrage, no matter how justified, is not going to change that substantially. It's fine to express outrage, but we'd better not stop there. We need to be as coldly practical and result-driven as possible. The fact is, we're in this ALONE, as we always have been, and we've got to stop believing in Santa Claus, if you get my drift. The fact that we're in the right is evidently of no concern to anybody but us, and at this late date, the ignorance defense is simply not plausible. We're a very long way from the 1960s. As bitter as it is, we have to face the very nasty facts and accept that, if we don't do it ourselves, ain't NOBODY bailing Cuba out.
I think IMPLODE is a better word. I'm in shock.

There's plenty of Americans not of Cuban ancestry who've never been fooled by the murderous criminal regime that holds Cuba and its people hostage.
We well recall as kids, seeing filthy, bearded, cagasstro flailing his fist, screaming hate, as his firing squads proved just what sort of 'peaceful agrarian reformer' - as the lamestream media then called him - he really was.
These apologists are like the informed friend who nonetheless believes malevolent gossip - they're worse. They know better than to be fooled by these stooge presentations.
The true God isn't fooled for a minute, either. Were they prudent, they'd read up on Nebuchadnezzar's dream prior to investing their all in their vaunted new world odor.
PS -
American Thinker, http://www.americanthinker.com, also has this item up, along with astute comments.
Does it sound as if CBC is acting in obeisance to lenin's command, 'audacity, audacity, audacity'?
These people never made it past 1968, when they made their big statement for all time by busting into their college president's office and relieving themselves on his desk.
They're still doing it, regardless of refinements.
Horrible.
You know, I had no idea that for the last fifty years, Cubans have been leaving Cuba any possible way, all for shitts & giggles.
For shitts & giggles!! Folks.
Nobody has ever been executed, tortured, jailed or mistreated. Everything exiles have ever said or suffered has been a lie, its all been for shitt's & giggles.
Doctors, lawyers, architects, teachers, biologists, homemakers, mechanics, etc have come to this country to mop floors, wipe asses, work two jobs for SHITTS & GIGGLES, because there was absolutely no other reason for them to leave their homes, families, language, customs, and country.
We finally figured it out, and it only took 50 years and a few Congressmen & women; Cubans are the world's most sadistic, suicidal maniacs ever known to man, who can't get a thrill unless they're doing something completely contrary to otherwise logical thinking. There is no tyranny in Cuba, Cubans just love to have it hard, die, and go to jail, for the fun of it. Cuban exiles just came up with a fantastic lie, and it took long, but these geniuses in congress finally have seen through the smoke screen!
If this shitt continues, it won't be long before obama apologizes for USA's treatment of Cuba during the last 50 years.
To tell you how right you are, Lori G., when my book group did Professor Eire's book, we had a pretty good discussion. They surprised me at their sensitivity to his experiences. But when, at the end, I read them the letters that Professor Eire wrote to me in answer to letters where I asked him some questions, they changed completely. It was overkill for them. These are Jewish women who should know better. But, alas, they are also liberals. And it seems to be difficult for them to get as exercised against communist oppression or Islamism as against Nazis or some murderous African society where they can be proud of themselves as they can be shocked at a far remove.
This sudden indifference among so many of them surprised me. I don't know why I was surprised. When we read The Kiterunner, or Reading Lolita in Tehran, or A Thousand Splendid Suns, or The Joke, they discussed those books as being about quaint societies. If I tried to bring up the real content, they became disgusted with me because I always make everything political.
As for Obama, of course it is predictable that this America hater and blamer will most definitely bow low and apologize to the Castros.
So much is so disappointing to me.
