“Send in the Clowns–NO the MORONS!!” Judy Collins pens tribute to Che Guevara

OK, amigos, just when you thought the pop-world could not possibly get more brain-damaged, Folk legend Judy "Sweet Judy Blue-Eyes" Collins penned a tribute to Che Guevara...But she did it in 1973.

Among the brilliant lyrics:

"The peasants smiled and shouted as they hurried by"

No you Moron, the peasants denounced Che and his merry band to the Bolivian Rangers and CHEERED(!!) when these Stalinist guerrillas were executed!

"You have it in your hands
To own your lives, to own your lands
"

No you Moron. Che's system would have converted them into robots at Soviet gunpoint and STOLEN their lands!

Unreal.

At least with Nathalie Cardone's "Hasta Siempre", I can watch her roll around in the mud on mute ...

So, I'm trying to find a wife for my guitar-playin' blog/site partner Kurt over @ http://infidelsparadise.com/

and I'm listening to music vids on YT the other night. One of my all time top favorite songs is Santana's Samba Pa Ti ... and I see in the selection this one:

    "Girl guitarist plays Santana" http://tinyurl.com/327fut

And I'm like "DUDESS!" ... she's hot, she's got boobs, and she plays guitar like a dude! If she rides motorcycles ... Wife for Kurt! ... all the while believing she's probably a lefty, but what the heck give it a try ...

So Kurt finds this video of Girl Guitarist Ash Soular that has me rethinking that assumption "OBAMANATION" http://tinyurl.com/5gjdfp

So now Kurt's falling in love and is thinking about getting in contact with the lovely crooner ...

I'll keep ya posted on any future "Bridal Registry" ...

As Drudge says ... DEVELOPING ...

I remember that song. I was always a Judy Collins fan, and years ago [when I was a kid, a bit more naive, not so involved], I went to one of her concerts and she sang that song [sigh].

By the way, I always felt that Crosby, Stills and Nash's, "Suite: Judy Blues Eyes" which was a tribute to Collins who was having an affair with one of the guys in the group was a commie song because towards the end of the song they say: QUE VIVA CUBA! And I don't think that they mean Cuba Libre.

  • So THAT'S what Stephen Stills warbles near the end of the song? I always wondered.

Ah, the entertainment industry types. They never disappoint. You can always count on them to be smarmy, trendy, holier-than-thou fools and/or hypocrites. I guess it's in their contract or something. Of course, the fact that they're idolized and condoned by so many non-famous fools is a BIG part of the problem.

I had a Judy Collins album---the cover art was a close up of Collins's face with those great big eyes. Every time my cat saw her photo he would arch his back and hiss at it. He was a street-smart cat when I found him, so I figured he was on to something.

    Humberto,

Actually, I was wrong, he doesn't say "Que Viva Cuba." I did a search of the lyrics and this is what he says:

ue linda me la traiga Cuba,
La reina de la Mar Caribe.
Cielo sol no tiene sangre allí,
y que triste que no puedo vaya,
    Oh va, oh va, va.

    Translation:
(Oh, what beauty Cuba brings me,
The queen of the Caribbean Sea,
Sunny sky has no blood over there,
And how sad that I cannot go,
    Oh go, oh go, go.)

Sounds, commie to me. Remember this is in the late 60's when he is singing this.. What does he mean, "Sunny sky has no blood over there?" He has to be kidding. My guess is that he is comparing Cuba to the USA that was waging a war in Vietnam at the time.

    See entire lyrics below:

    It's getting to the point
    Where I'm no fun anymore
    I am sorry
    Sometimes it hurts so badly
    I must cry out loud
    I am lonely
I am yours, you are mine
    You are what you are
    And you make it hard.

Remember what we've said and done and felt
    About each other
    Oh babe, have mercy
Don't let the past remind us of what we are not now
    I am not dreaming.
I am yours, you are mine
    You are what you are
    You make it hard.

Tearing yourself away from me now
You are free and I am crying
This does not mean I don't love you
    I do, that's forever,
    Yes and for always
I am yours, you are mine
    You are what you are
    You make it hard.

Something inside is telling me that
    I've got your secret.
    Are you still listening?
Fear is the lock, and laughter the key to your heart
    And I love you.
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are
    You make it hard
And you make it hard (x 3).

Friday evening, Sunday in the afternoon
What have you got to lose?
Tuesday morning, please be gone I'm tired of you.
What have you got to lose?
Can I tell it like it is? (Help me I'm suffering)
    Listen to me baby.
It's my heart that's a suffering (Help me I'm dying)
    It's a dying, that's what I have to lose
    I've got an answer
    I'm going to fly away
What have I got to lose?
Will you come see me Thursdays and Saturdays?
What have you got to lose?

    Chestnut brown canary
    Ruby throated sparrow
Sing the song don't be long
    Thrill me to the marrow.

Voices of the angels, ring around the moonlight
Asking me, said she so free
How can you catch the sparrow?

Lacy, lilting, leery, losing love, lamenting
Change my life, make it right
    Be my lady.

Que linda me la traiga Cuba,
La reina de la Mar Caribe.
Cielo sol no tiene sangre allí,
y que triste que no puedo vaya,
    Oh va, oh va, va.

    Translation:
(Oh, what beauty Cuba brings me,
The queen of the Caribbean Sea,
Sunny sky has no blood over there,
And how sad that I cannot go,
    Oh go, oh go, go.)

I missed the "Q" in the first line. ITS:

que linda me la traiga Cuba,
