Katie the Player Hater

The truth is no one really cares what Katie Couric thinks. And according to the latest ratings, not very many people care to watch her read the news either. But if there is anything interesting about Katie it is that she herself doesn't listen to what she says.

In an address to Princeton grads last week, Katie told the graduating class to avoid the "nastiness" that pervades today's discourse.

She [Couric] then advised the Princeton grads that they must guard against "nastiness."

"Next, don't be a hater," said Couric. "Princeton has taught you to think critically, to approach things with a healthy dose of skepticism ... and that's a good thing, as Martha Stewart would say. But you really must guard against the cynicism and nastiness that are so pervasive today, particularly on the internet. It can be a wonderful, powerful and equalizing tool, but it's also populated by haters and trolls. People think they can say or do anything online under the cloak of anonymity. Don't get sucked in."

"Rise above the collegial nastiness and instead....celebrate excellence," said Couric.

Apparently the lovely Katie did not hear herself think or speak because this statement came right after she took nasty swipes at Sarah Palin, Carrie Prejean, Donald Rumsfeld, and Rush Limbaugh. While imploring the graduating students not to be haters, Katie was busy hating everyone she disagrees with.

This, of course, is typical behavior for liberals. You must be tolerant, but only of those who share your views. You must be accepting, but only of those that subscribe to the same ideology as you. You must never be vicious or hateful, unless your being vicious and hateful to a conservative, then it is okay.

One thing she did say was right, however; the internet is populated by haters and trolls. But just like Katie cannot see the duplicity in her statements, she also cannot see that the vast majority of those haters and trolls are members of her own club.

Don't hate the player, Katie; hate the game.

Katie fully represents the MSM liberal ideology.

Remember very well when she attacked us during the Elian Gonzalez saga.

Let’s put it this way, I don’t wish any good on her, that’s how much I like her.

Princeton must be pretty hard up these days, or maybe those in charge there aren't all that bright.

Regardless of Couric's politics or ideology, or those of anyone in her sort of position, who or what are these media talking heads, exactly? What is their merit or accomplishment, besides looking a certain way, sounding a certain way, and having a certain persona or image? What do they do besides read or parrot the words or content given to them, with the slant required of them, like actors following a script? Why on earth would anybody with half a brain make such incredible, absurd fuss over these people? WTF do any of them actually matter, in real-life terms, in terms of actual, substantial relevance? They do matter to their employers if they get high enough ratings, but that's not what I'm talking about. What the hell is wrong with a society that lavishes fabulous rewards on the inconsequential, the trivial, the banal, the bogus, and worse?

As I said, Princeton must have fallen on hard times or lost its bearings if this is what they come up with for a graduation speaker. I mean, hell, let them get Pelosi or Clinton or Sotomayor (Lord knows if Palin had become the first female VP, they'd never have picked HER, not even if she'd captured Bin Laden single-handedly), but Katie Couric? Some contrived little TV creature that owes WAY too much to being "perky"? Are they kidding me? Or are they just kidding themselves? I just hope they got their picture taken with her and some nice big autographs for their offices. Sheesh. Ivy League my ass--more like bush league (obviously not with a capital B).

Maybe next year they can get Obama's dog groomer to do the honors.
