The Cap and Tax bill – James Stewart Update

Jimmy Stewart Update (6:15 PM): Minority Leader Boehner filibusters, reading from the 300 pages added in the middle of the night. Are there only a handful of Democrats in the House that care about their constituents?

Vote is today. You still have time to call your congressional representatives and stop the Cap and Trade Bill. Contact info right here.

Update: Folks, this is important. This Cap and Trade bill would be the largest tax hike in US history. All predicated upon the "Global Warming" THEORY, which has been disputed and debunked, ad nauseum, and which the Democratic party and associated liberal useful idiots have been fear mongering and shoving down our throats forever. Many Dems are frothing at the mouth - especially Speaker Pelosi - as they stand to make some serious cash from investments made in companies that stand to reap greatly from said legislation.

You can watch the Democrats try to stifle all debate and ram this farce of a bill - which, incidentall, had 300 pages added to it in the wee hours which no one has had time to read - down our throats at CSPAN, right here.

Update: Just a little reminder that this congress which is right now "debating" a bill that basically will tax the air you breathe, has the lowest approval rating in US history.

Update: Congressman Allen Boyd (D) Florida is still undecided. Contact him right here.

UPDATE: House pulls bill, vote postponed until later today. KEEP THE CALLS GOING.

UPDATE: Fifteen reasons to oppose the cap and Trade boondoggle.

Update: Cost of this bill, per family: $12,021.75

Note: This post will remain at the top while the Cap and Tax bill is on the floor and voted on. For newer posts, please scroll down.

"All predicated upon the "Global Warming" THEORY, which has been disputed and debunked"

Cap and tax may be gawdawful stupid, but you cannot honestly say that GW (more properly GCC) has been debunked, not when the National Academy of Sciences still believes in it along with every other major respected body of science in the world.

    http://www.nasonline.org

June 11, 2009: In a joint statement, the science academies of the G8 countries, plus Brazil, China, India, Mexico, and South Africa, called on their leaders to "seize all opportunities" to address global climate change that "is happening even faster than previously estimated."

Wait that was only a vote to send it to the floor

there still is a chance to stop it in the House

I tried calling this morning. Busy signals all the way. I tried calling last night at 11:30 P.M. and got a recorded message that so many calls were coming in, perhaps I should try another time or leave a message. I tried to leave a message and couldn't because the message box was too full. Either this means that they are getting a lot of calls, we hope about this, or it means they don't want to hear from us and we are like the 300 hundred pages tacked on at the end. We don't matter. They will do what they like.
When this passes, will it ever be reversible? Or will we be destroyed by then?
In the meantime all of my friends worship Obama, anyway.

  • Time to find better friends, Honey.

I know. That's what my few conservative friends keep telling me. I am trying. It's not too easy these days.
These are not bad friends, just good friends with fuzzy thinking.

This bill will decide the future of Americans for generations. In so many untold ways will this affect so many. I fear for this country and for the young people that still dont have a clue as to what is happenning.

I do not fear for myself...although too young for SSI I am comfortable and able to retire. Its everyone else Im concerned about.

As to obama followers, I do not nor would have any within my circle of friends or a lady I might date.(might catch something).

The lines are clearly drawn as far as Im concerned.

  • Honey

    rrrod,
It's easy for you to say. Everyone I know everywhere I go is on the other side. Everyone who has been my friend for decades is on the other side. I'd have to give up everyone I know.

Trying to email a certain congressman from my state who has recently changed his vote to "yes" and also happens to be running for governor next year and will need my vote. House mail server is "unavailable".

  • Larry Daley

    Lazaro:

My letters went out yesterday to my representative and perhaps more importantly to the two senators of my home state.

I went to each of their web sites and sent them from there.

Is is possible that you can do the same.

    Bad news from TheHill.com . . .

    House passes Pelosi's signature bill
    By Jared Allen

    06/26/09 07:18 PM [ET]

The House on Friday passed a monumental climate change bill, giving Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) one of the biggest victories of her Speakership and answering a call from President Obama to let the United States play a leading roll in reducing greenhouse gasses.

The bill passed with 219 votes, just enough for passage. Forty three Democrats voted against the bill and eight Republicans voted for it.

I wish you well :) Melek

God bless, John Boehner, I wish he were my Congressman here in Ohio ... He really needs to circle the wagons and begin a serious 'obstruction' campaign in the House.

    Take note, guys:

House Roll call on the vote:

    http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll477.xml

Fuck them all ... to Hell.

Quoting from Michael Goldfarb @ Weekly Standard:

[[Here's the view of one senior House GOP staffer who just emailed me:

"Tonight, 50 Democrats lost their jobs and this bill is dead in the Senate."]]

I'm sorry, guys, but right about now I'm feeling a bit like those folks in the streets of Tehran. We have NO representation. The Capitol is nothing but a den of filthy fucking mullahs ...

Larry - I went to the rep's gubernatorial campaign site and sent it there. In the end he voted against it.

  • Larry Daley

    Lazaro:

    Well done

In my view climatic data has too much variance to be used for predictive purposes

And were one to accept that the variance could be controlled enough to make predictions the data for the last couple of years could be taken to predict global cooling
