The woman has "liberal activist agenda" written all over her. Of course, that's why she was nominated (otherwise, being merely qualified technically for the job would have meant nothing). If a qualified conservative woman of the same ethnic background had been nominated, especially by someone like Bush, there'd be wailing and gnashing of (sharp) teeth all over the place, and her approval would definitely NOT be a done deal even before the hearings started.

Asombra, Miguel Estrada was nominated to the Court of Appeals. He was qualified and hispanic, but conservative. The libs derailed his nomination before it could even get to nomination hearings.
