When in early 1959 Castroites (many of them probably in Miami today) broke into Cubans’ homes and chased them through the streets to grab them and send them to Che Guevara’s tender mercies at La Cabana–the U.S. embassy (the gov., remember, who “backed” Batista) closed it’s embassy doors to these desperate Cubans. Hundreds were thus tortured and murdered.
(On the other hand many anti-Batista terrorists were given un-official refuge in the homes of U.S. officials, especially State Dept. and CIA official’s homes.)
Recently Manuel Zelaya’s wife, (though under no danger of physical harm) was given “refuge” in the home of the U.S ambassador to Honduras, Hugo Llorens.
