Late-Night Levity on Politically Incorrect
While calling the book "fascinating," and "totally crazy" Bill Maher was snorting derisively as he held up a copy of Helldiver's Rodeo on his show recently.
"Can you believe this guy?" Bill Maher snickered while pointing his chin at author Humberto Fontova. "He calls offshore oil drilling "an Environmental Bonanza!" Who ever heard of such nonsense. Is this guy a Oil Company shill or what". And the audience laughed and hooted along.
The author actually missed the comment. He'd had his back to the camera while turning to display his "Che T-shirt"
Rest of the (greatly embellished) episode here.

Hope you don't mind some typically Cuban RELAJO, amigos.
You had me falling out of my chair laughing at work! ...and that was before I even got to the "mamasita and cuchi-cuchi-cuchi" parts, by then I had tears! By the way, I gave that book to my ex-husband, who is a hunter and avid fisherman, as a Christmas gift and he loved it.
Thank you, sir, for writing the book on Che; I just got it to get educated on the subject, and the cover is priceless. Plan to take it on my train ride to work, in full view of all the college kids who ride with me each morning. Thank you!
I've seen a few Pinochet shirts for sell online, although I've never seen someone wearing one in public.
However about a month ago I saw a young guy about 20 wearing a shirt that had Lenin, Mao, and Obama on it. The sad part is I don't think it was meant as a parody ... as his pants had a huge Che patch sewn on them with "Hasta la Victoria Siempre" running along the side.
Gigi, the one problem is that from a distance the book doesn't look like an anti-Che one. Although I imagine Humberto didn't have control over the cover, the published probably did.
Humberto even spoke of this fact when he talked about having a large stand down in Miami, and the old Cubanos would curse at him and his large poster until their kids would explain that it was an "anti" book.
The teens on the train will probably obliviously give you the "commie" fist raise.
ha,ha,ha,ha, This started my work day just fine. Man.....I gotta pick up your book this week-end.
Humberto....is there any way to get a signed copy?
Keep up the great work hermano Cubano.
Right after the Che book came out I got a call from my dear friend Sylvia Diaz-Verson who helped me tremendously with my research by digging up all her father's (Salvador, a famous Cuban Anti-Communist scholar/researcher) papers. I heartily thank Sylvia in the book's "acknowledgments."
"Some book on that h/p Che just came out, Humberto!" Sylvia announced on the phone. "But don't worry! Me and my sister have been going around to all the local Barnes & Nobles and Borders, taking it off the front tables and hiding them!"
It was MY BOOK!! she was talking about!
Unreal. But she meant well.
Gracias hermano, Henry. Alas, I have no copies of that book on hand. But looks like I'll be down Miami
way the week of Aug 15th visiting familia. I would be absolutely delighted to touch base with you and sign the book, chat, drink or whatever.
