Law and Order: Castro style

It has been months since the first Spanish Catholic priest was found murdered in Cuba with nary a word from the Cuban dictatorship. Not even an acknowledgment the crime even took place. When a second priest was found murdered in the same fashion only a few days ago, the regime's crack detectives shifted into high gear and suddenly found not only the perpetrator of the first murder in February and secured a confession, but they also found the perpetrator of the latest murder and secured his confession, too. Quite an impressive piece of detective work if you ask me.

HAVANA – The Catholic archbishop of Havana, Cardinal Jaime Ortega, announced Thursday that Cuban authorities captured the alleged killer of Spanish priest Mariano Arroyo, whose body was found three days ago with his hands tied, stabbed and partially burned.

“The investigation carried out by the police experts has permitted the location and capture of the alleged perpetrator of this abominable crime and his possible accomplices,” said the archdiocese in a communique.

“Besides the associated evidence, the police authorities already have the confession of the mentioned perpetrator,” added the communique, going on to say that the investigation “still has not been concluded.”

It adds that the authorities also confirmed that the investigation continues into the murder of another Spanish priest in February in the Cuban capital, Eduardo de la Fuente, and that in that case “at least one arrested person confessed his guilt and responsibility.”

Full-time Castro lackey and part-time Cardinal, Jaime Ortega, was sure to make clear that although both murders bore amazing similarities in the way they were carried out, there is no, repeat no connection between the two. That is what the Cuban regime told him to say and that is what he's going to say, gosh darn it!

The announcement [by Castro Lackey/Cardinal Ortega] rejects “any attempt to link one case with another or to give it a religious or political meaning completely foreign to the reality of the criminal deed itself,” but it did not go into any more detail on that aspect of the case.

The Lord has a special place for people like Ortega.

Ah, yes, Cardinal Ortega. Too bad he didn't hear the one about Caesar's wife. Or, more likely, heard it and ignored it.

Just in case there's someone who doesn't get my reference, Julius Caesar divorced his wife based on unproven allegations of attempted, albeit unconsummated, infidelity. His position was that Caesar's wife must be above even the suspicion of inappropriate or unbecoming behavior.

Cardinal Ortega is the greatest enabler that the Castroite system ever had. He is a disgrace to the Church. I am proud to be Catholic but embarrassed that he is a leader in my Church. His actions have only helped F&R and eroded the Church's moral authority.
