Plucky latin nation defies Yankee bullying
Proud Latinos defend their small nations' native institutions against rich, arrogant and powerful foreigners who propose to abolish a small but sovereign nation's legal constitution, impose their will and convert them into a playground for foreign millionaire gangsters and drug-traffickers, all allied with arrogant officials from the collossus to the north.
Archaic and counterproductive economic sanctions are already being imposed against this small and plucky nation.
Unreal.

I just hope the Hondurans don't make the mistake of expecting outsiders to do the right thing by them and just take care of their own business themselves as best they can. Cubans, at least some of them (way too many) are still waiting for a fairy godmother, more or less. Keep dreaming.
You're so right Asombra. However, they may need a little help, because as we speak, Chavez, Cuba, and Ortega are getting ready to apply the pressure by instigating internal violence, while receiving top cover from other scumbags in countries like Ecuador, Paraguay, and Argentina. Plus, our own US government will probably side with the leftists even though we're well aware what they were trying to do in Honduras with the help of Zelaya. It is so friggin sad, but lets pray the Hondos stand tall in the face of evil.
"Plus, our own US government will probably side with the leftists even though we're well aware what they were trying to do in Honduras with the help of Zelaya."
Mambi,
This statement you made is just what infuriates me with our current administration.
But I cannot expect any less from your Marxist commander in chief (you know what I mean, I'm sure you don't enjoy these times at the big building).
I know is not funny, come to think of it is just pure INSANITY!!!
How low the bastion of freedom and democracy, the greatest country on earth has sunk with a Marxist bullshit artist at the helm.
Honduras stands alone.
Chavez in Venezuela, Raul in Cuba, Correa in Ecuador, Lula in Brazil, Ortega in Nicaragua, Kirchner in Argentina ... all LEFTISTS who will have free range against the small nation.
FFC, you're right. I can't tell you how frustrating it is. it makes me ill...
The world has gone crazy. The US embargo against Cuba, a terrorist supporting communist dictatorship is wrong, but economic sanctions against democratic Honduras, struggling for its sovereignty is ok? I can't wait for the Zelaya Hil reunion; I wonder; will she wax nostalgic about her brigada days cutting cane for fidel?
Again I ask, why is Uribe siding with all of these - Obama, Castro, Chavez and company horrors?
Whitaker Chambers, alas, is finally right. The communists have their ally in the White House.
For those who've expressed dismay over Uribe's backing of Zelaya, it's par for the course. Uribe's concerns begin and end with Colombia. He doesn't care about any other country's problems or issues, only about what he thinks will either help or hurt him with respect to the Colombian situation. No doubt he's the best leader Colombia has had in a long time, but he should not be looked to for help or support by non-Colombians (which definitely includes Cubans). He's very, VERY focused on his own domestic concerns, period.
Thank you asombra.
But if that's true, then why didn't he just stay out of it? Is he worried those commies will come after him if he doesn't go along? Then what kind of freedom or power in his own country does he have?
Maybe Uribe hasn't stayed out of it because he shares Zelaya's desire to eliminate presidential term limits. BTW, is there any country that has formally recognized the new government of Honduras?
Honey, Uribe has always struck me as someone who's been spooked. I suppose having your father murdered can do that to you. Given the appallingly degenerate political situation all over Latin America, he's bound to feel threatened, beleaguered and vulnerable. He knows he can't trust any other "leader", and his response has been basically CYA. In other words, protecting himself and his interests (read: Colombia) any way he thinks will work. Not infrequently, that has meant putting expediency or convenience over principle in foreign affairs. Compared to practically any other "Latin" president, he looks mighty fine, and I expect he's doing the best he knows how, but I don't see him as a great man. Great men are few and far between. Very few and very far.
Ziva, I've always heard about Hitlary cutting Cane with the Venceremos brigardes in Cuba ... but can't locate a solid source.
Can you help me out ??? Thanks

... Says it all
Mr. Mojito, about Hillary as a brigadista: Unconfirmed, but seems to be accepted "knowledge" among those from the radical left in a position to know. With her history, and from my personal experience from that period, I personally believe it to be true.
