Hypocrisy, Jorge Castaneda is thy name.
As Henry "El Conductor" pointed out recently, Newsweek commentator, former Mexican foreign minister and Che hagiographer Jorge Castaneda champions : "a unilateral end to the (Cuban) embargo."
Today in Newsweek he expounds:
"there are good reasons for applying sanctions to Honduras, and they may even work."
"Hyprocrite" won't do here, nor will "Unreal."
(Today's fishing trip with my son was rained out, I've been climbing the walls. But I'm going tomorrow, even in a 'freakin Typhoon..y'all have a good week-end.

I still remember a few months back when Castaneda published his "theory" in Newsweek that Lage was sacked by Raul because they were trying to overthrow the Castro brothers by order of Hugo Chavez.

I also remember from reading part of his Che book that he believes Fidel sent Che to Bolivia in order to sell him down the river and have him killed - an idea I would agree with as I believe Humberto probably would as well.
I wouldn't call Castaneda your typical leftie, although I disagree obviously with his take here.
Mr. Fontova, Wonderful blog you have here. I found you through Richard Fernandez over at PJM.
The number one tenet of leftism is self promotion. It is truly a dog eat dog system. One that is truly ruled by the mightiest. This is why you see them eat their own. They couch all of their actions in terms of fairness and a level playing field but it is anything but that. As we can see. Mr. Castaneda may not look like your average lefty, but I assure you he will act exactly like your average lefty. No matter what he writes or says his actions will always betray him.
The left-the-embargo for Cuba, but impose one on any so-called right winged dictatorship is a pervasive double standard. Unfortunately, the left-winged power establishment controls the mainstream media in the United States and therefore never examines this hypocrisy. They never put the Senator Dodd's, the Congressmen Rangel's, the Susan Eckstein's and Julia Sweig's up agains the wall and ask them, what's up with this double standard? So, they are allow to perpetuate it. It's sickening.
Look, it's really simple. Castaneda is "Latin." He's Mexican. He belongs to the corresponding political establisment. TRIPLE whammy. His position is not just par for the course, it's virtually mandatory. Actually, RELATIVELY speaking, it's slightly evolved, at least superficially. In general, much of the pro-Castro stance one sees all over the place is really anti-Americanism, and Mexicans are nothing if not anti-American. Even a COMPARATIVELY reasonable EXCEPTION to the rule, like Oscar Arias, is still compromised. It would be FAR more surprising for any "Latin" political figure to do the right thing by Cuba or Honduras than the opposite. Just ask Mr. Insulza (if you can catch him off the phone with Chavez).
