Cardona keeps Juanes after school…

Joe Cardona goes on Colombian radio and schools Juanes, once again. (En español.)

Joe tells me he'll be on Maria Elvira tonight as well as Aqui y Ahora at 10 on Univision with Teresa Rodriguez.

Kick ass, take names, Joe.

Amazing, the ignorance and arrogance of the host/interviewer. Moral equality all over the place in favor of the concert's purpose. Like my mom says, it's easy to be a partisan of the revolution if you're 90+ miles away from it eating hamburgers.

Go, Joe -- hit 'em with their double standards.

I certainly hope Cardona kicks ass, but taking names is too big a job for one person. There are way too many names to take, and that's not even counting those who aren't high-profile. As I said, practically all "Latin" countries have been tools for Castro, Inc. for decades, even though practically all of them have suffered directly or indirectly due to Havana's longstanding and widespread meddling and interference in the region. In the case of Juanes, he looks like a nice, sweet young man (even if he isn't), so most people will give him the benefit of the doubt (which they would anyway; the only ones who never get that benefit are anti-Castro Cubans). The only thing we can really do here is put our money where our mouth is, and never subsidize those who not only refuse to help us, but also choose to be part of the problem. Not a single one of these people is necessary, let alone indispensable. No entertainment is worth compromising our dignity. The hell with them--all of them.

And Gigi, just like those who resort to the old "Batistiano" slander, those who play the moral equivalency game are automatically suspect until proven otherwise. As no doubt you're aware, such proof is rarely, if ever, forthcoming.

Heard the whole interview, great job Joe.
    Fuck Juanes!!
I hope that the Columbians never get their own version of Chavez or Castro, porque se van a tener que meter la lengua en el culo!
Que gente mas come mierda, no wonder we are so screwed, I'm sure this guy is an Obama lover.Que clase de come mierda en la radio de Columbia caballero!!!
Idiots continue to legitimize the regime, next idiot please or por favor.

  • Way to stand up to them Joe.

That clown sounded like a representative of the FARC???

Radical exile? drawing a moral equivalency of your position with that of Silvio "I Love Fidel" Rodriguez, truly disgusting stuff.

  • Another home run by Cardona. Even after the asinine host tries to paint him into the old and tired "Cuba intransigent" corner, Cardona stands firm and represents himself and only himself and doesn't attempt to speak for any group. He was much more graceful and tolerant than the hosts who supposedly are standing up for freedom of expression. According to the hosts, the Cuban-American community is the only community that is not allowed to have diverse views, only those which agree with that of the hosts.

Bravo to Cardona for presenting a civil, well-argued, rational and, ultimately, very effective argument against the claim that the Juanes concert is merely an artistic performance. As if any artistic performance was ever just about art.

  • asombra

The following is all quite obvious, or should be, to anyone with the most basic information and average intelligence. The Juanes "peace" concert is, or will be, a media event, at least as much for foreign as for domestic consumption. It is only happening because the Castro dictatorship has chosen to allow and promote it, and it NEVER does that unless it stands to benefit. The Cuban contingent consists of performers with a LONG history of very POLITICAL and overt pro-Castro behavior. Silvio Rodriguez, for instance, has signed every public document that has "spontaneously" appeared supporting the actions of Castro, Inc., including the summary executions of young black men who tried to leave Cuba "illegally" and had hurt nobody in the attempt. Rodriguez, the quintessential abject lackey and Castro house boy, thus officially supported the killing of young Cubans for trying to leave a hellhole to find a better life. There is NO way this bastard is not political, and any claim to the contrary is an insult to the merest intelligence. Same goes for any claim that this event is not a major PR move for a miserable Stalinist dictatorship. If Juanes can't see that, well, I'm sorry, but he's an idiot, or worse. Would Juanes have done a similar concert in Chile under Pinochet, or Nicaragua under Somoza? Absolutely NOT. I repeat, either he's so clueless and naive that he's borderline retarded, or he's an SOB that happens to look like a nice guy.

  • rjbonau

    No,No,

He is a major SOB! don't really give a shit what he looks or sings like, he is died to me, actually I hope I never heard him sing, going to go throw up now.
    Thanks.

Bravo indeed to Mr. Cardona for his intellect and his ability to keep his cool in the face of such an imbecile. Time for Carlos Alberto Montaner to add an addendum to his Latin American Idiots book. As for Juanes (are there two of him?) he's just wiping his arse with the Cubans in the very city where he resides. Asshole
