Reagan speaks about Socialized Medicine

This is from 48 years ago, but the words from the "Great Communicator" ring as true today in 2009 as they did in 1961.

Nice clip. I already saw it at Drudge, and some other places. But I'm worried it is not sending the strong message some think.

Reagan recorded that back in the days when proposals like the one that created Medicare were being discussed by those in Congress. He opposed Medicare, but supported an alternative program.

Reagan changed his opinion on Medicare in 80s, and actually supported a huge expansion in the Medicare program near the end of his term:

So what does it mean if Reagan changed his mind? That's what worries me, because I'm sure that is how the MSM will spin it. You know, "even Reagan saw the light".

I was just hearing this a couple of weeks ago. It's crazy how his speech resonates today!

  • Ronald Wilson Reagan...his face belongs on Mt. Rushmore!!!
