Just happy that it's Friday. It's been a long, long week for me at work so I'll be glad when 3:30 pm comes around. Just finished having my cafe con leche made with evaporated milk, some pastelitos from Tammy Bakery and I'm good to go....
Got an e-mail from Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Seems her much awaited town-hall on health-care will be held by phone this Sunday, not in person, because you know; she's afraid of her constituents (aka the mob). My district is heavily populated with Seniors who vote and are afraid of the cuts in Medicare (Somewhere in the tealeaves of Obamacare).
So I guess we're in great shape here! Martinez quits, Nelson is too busy with foreign policy issues, but not too busy to be the guest speaker at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon on September 2nd, at Parrot Jungle. So it's same S*!! different day, unless they're up for re-election. Because when that rolls around... then its time to press the flesh and say anything to get elected.
All this endless, ponderous, solemn slobbering over Ted Kennedy! I know it was inevitable, especially in the current political environment, but it still grates big time. "His legacy will live forever..." Gee, too bad that Kopechne girl didn't live to see 20. His political career should have died with her, but hey, this is America (or rather, Massachusetts). Why did he get such an incredible pass, when many other politicians have been ruined for much less? Because he was a Kennedy? Because of some cheesy "Irish charm"? Because the people who kept voting for him for nearly 40 years couldn't see or think straight?
Jewbana, honey, I'm sure Wasserman-Schultz and Nelson are just, you know, really shy and everything, and they're trying to save the money and resources that would be spent on in-the-flesh town hall meetings. It's all for the good of the people they, uh, serve...
Thanks Val, for the open thread offer. There's more than a few sober items up for discussion on this date, but being that it is Friday, I thought some may enjoy a little relaxation with irreverent humor. Here goes:
Actually, this is the linl I actually wanted to post. The titles at the bottom of the page are all cartoons, quite funny. Sorry about taking up double space folks.
What's going on? I am sitting here checking up on what's new on babalu.
Tomorrow I will meet a new conservative who lives in my area. The contact came from tea parties. Maybe I will find new friends after all and have people to talk to in person who speak my language. Wouldn't that make a nice change?
I loved Rush's brazen rant showing Kennedy's ugliness in the face of all these pundits describing how it was never partisan and never rancorous with Kennedy. He played good examples of how that is an incorrect assessment of Kennedy.
I have been musing on the replacement senator for Kennedy. We all know how these sleazy dems operate. They are trying to rush through a change again so that the dem governor can appoint a replacement.
I think this is a very good sign for two reasons. First they are showing their true manipulative colors for anyone who cares to notice and we should try to make sure people can notice that this is how dems operate. If the law doesn't help them, then change the law until it does, and back when needed.
But more important is my second reason. This means the dems are afraid of the unthinkable happening. What if liberal Massachusetts votes in a conservative republican! O-O-O-O-OOO. Mustn't let that happen! That means they are afraid that is what would happen. Isn't that great?
I wonder if his actions are not some sort of treason?
Anyway, there is something that runs in that family, and it is not only cancer.
On a different note, msn is reporting that public health officials are freaking out at the possibility that health care workers will refuse to get that swine flu vaccine made in a rush that nobody knows how will turn out... and take a look at what New York is doing about it:
Cubanita,
Today if it were revealed what Kennedy did with Andropov, he might be celebrated for his exceptional skills at befriending our enemies unlike Bush who....
TGIF indeed. And TGWHJ (thank God we have jobs). On tap: researching senate bills for local tea party group site; dinner & Qban salsa. Y'all have a great weekend!

Pass this on to the English Speaking Websites and Blogs please: http://cubanology.com/cubareport/?p=2301
Nelson is one of the Blue Dogs that has come out against public option. So you can't knock him on that point.
TGIF!
A friend emailed me this about Ted Kennedy last night:

As usual, government (allied with big pharma) always know better than us.

Just looking forward to Labor Day weekend.
