Here is some change we can believe in, courtesy of Barack Obama.

Conservatives Now Outnumber Liberals in All 50 States, Says Gallup Poll

Monday, August 17, 2009

Self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals in all 50 states of the union, according to the Gallup Poll.

At the same time, more Americans nationwide are saying this year that they are conservative than have made that claim in any of the last four years.

In 2009, 40% percent of respondents in Gallup surveys that have interviewed more than 160,000 Americans have said that they are either “conservative” (31%) or “very conservative” (9%). That is the highest percentage in any year since 2004.

Only 21% have told Gallup they are liberal, including 16% who say they are “liberal” and 5% who say they are “very liberal.”

According to new data released by Gallup on Friday, conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states--including President Obama’s home state of Illinois--even though Democrats have a significant advantage over Republicans in party identification in 30 states.

“In fact, while all 50 states are, to some degree, more conservative than liberal (with the conservative advantage ranging from 1 to 34 points), Gallup's 2009 party ID results indicate that Democrats have significant party ID advantages in 30 states and Republicans in only 4,” said an analysis of the survey results published by Gallup.

“Despite the Democratic Party's political strength-- seen in its majority representation in Congress and in state houses across the country--more Americans consider themselves conservative than liberal,” said Gallup’s analysis.

Somehow, I don't think this was the change Obama was referring to.

    Ja!
Could we have hopes that the tides are turning over? I really need to keep the faith on the American people...

Obama's quickness and methods in pushing his liberal/socialist agenda and the dismantling of the American economy has led to this change.

What Obama and the Democrats still don't want to acknowledge (because they're still in denial mode mostly influenced by the MSM's support) is the fact that in these town hall meetings many of the loudest protesters have been those people that voted for Obama last November and are now are beginning to realize their mistake.

The MSM continues to sell the line that all these town halls protesters are GOP organized but we and the American people are seeing a much different picture.

  • Mambí

What's troubling is that surveys have always shown that the majority of Americans consider themselves moderate to conservative (consistently over 70%). Those who identify as liberal have always been in the low 20s, yet we have an extreme liberal (actually, a leftist) and his fellow-travelers running this country into the ground. What does that say about our citizenry? Nothing good, unfortunately. Embarrassingly ignorant, ill-informed, and easily manipulated by the 'paradise peddlers' who promise everything under the sun and cloak themselves as the 'defenders of the people'.

Where were all these 'conservatives' when a decent, patriotic moderate faced-off against an inexperienced leftist known to associate with the most anti-American elements of our society? Honestly, it's sickening, and makes me wonder if Obama and the DEMs won't do it again in spite of the facts before NOV 2008, and everything that's come to light since.
If the economy improves in the slightest, in spite of Obama's statist policies, the mobocracy will go right back in the voting booth and self-destruct by keeping them in power.

The key is to effectively control the information environment and constantly remind them that the DEMs and Obama do not represent their values or beliefs, while offering common-sense solutions for the problems we face. It's going to be a tough fight, in spite of these surveys...

  • A big reason for the disparity between ideology and party affiliation is the awful job the GOP has done to "sell" its values and beliefs over the past few years. I don't blame an ill-informed citizenry as I do people's valid mistrust in a party that betrayed many true conservatives. It's no shock there are more conservatives than liberals, it's always been the case. The numbers in the Gallup poll should be a serious wake-up call for the Republican Party to get their act together and capitalize on these trends to come back to the Reagan principles.

"Where were all these 'conservatives' when a decent, patriotic moderate faced-off against an inexperienced leftist known to associate with the most anti-American elements of our society?"

    Absolutely Mambi,

Plenty of regular Americans bought into Obama's bullshit (the MSM had plenty to do with it because they chose not to challenge Obama) and now are regretting it.

Unfortunately plenty of these regular Americans still believe in the MSM's lies and chose to ignore the obvious telltale signs of what Obama was going to bring to the table if elected.

Now these same individuals are opening their eyes to a painful reality.

If one painful lesson I learned about the American people during the last election is the fact that Americans today can be just as stupid as the people from third world countries when it comes to making the right political choices.

This plain fact speaks volumes for the kind of America that we live in today and the quality of its people.

    Robert,

The GOP cannot continue operating with so many RINOs in its ranks.

They are responsible for the current state of the party.

  • Mambí

FFC; you're spot-on, as always. Lets hope they pull their collective heads out of their ass, starting in 2010. Me da rabia...cojones!

  • FFC,

I agree that too many people were fed up with the GOP RINOs of the past few years and decided to give Obama a chance, regrettably. However, many of those same Americans you called "stupid" are also the ones who have participated in tea parties, town halls and played a big role in Obama backpeddling on his health care plan. Let's be careful not to paint with too broad a brush, as so many do with Cuban-Americans.

  • Mambí

Robert; it was their stupidity that got us into this mess. How can anyone rationalize voting for a guy like Obama by saying they were upset with weak Republicans? It doesn't make ANY sense at all. It's absolutely asinine to say you'll vote for someone with diametrically opposite views from you just because you're upset at your Party. It would make more sense to say you decided not to vote at all, which in itself is a stupid thing to do if you care about where your country is headed.

I'm sorry, but I'm not willing to cover up the fierce ignorance that abounds among the electorate. They're the ones responsible for this disaster, even though they were warned during the campaign. It's unforgivable, even though many are now regretting what they did. Obama and the DEM politicos are acting naturally - the ones who voted for them shouldn't be so shocked. BTW, they may be protesting today, but what will they do when they walk into a booth in 2010 and 2012? The verdict is still a ways away.

  • I think the tide is turning but the problem also lies with the Congressmen. Most of them think they are too good for voters and that voters will blindly vote for them no matter what. In my state last week , Sen. Cardin denied a constituents question. He didnt even want to hear the question let alone answer it. They feel they dont have to answer to us. FFC , i just hope that more Americans dont buy his bullshit and actually challenge him now. I'm afraid it will get worse. He will do anything he can to silence people and get his way.

  • FreedomForCuba

    Robert,

I must agree with Mambi as there was no justification whatsoever in voting for President Barack Hussein Obama given his experience, track record in Congress, very liberal, socialist values and choice of associations.

The people became stupid and chose to ignore the mega size Vegas style bright neon signs that where all over the place (no matter how much the MSM tried to hide them) warning them about electing Barack Hussein Obama to office.

The only consolation I get these days is to watch people at these town hall meetings loudly complaining that they voted for the President and no longer trust his policies and the direction he’s steering this country.

Let’s put it to you this way, how many Cuban-Americans (that knew better not to) voted for Obama here in South Florida? That was an even more moronic, stupid decision if you ask me.

I’m sorry but stupidity is running rampant in America now days and we’ll pay a painful price for it we don’t wise up.

  • FreedomForCuba

    Colena,

The people must stand up publicly and start challenging this President more often in no uncertain terms; but I don’t know if this is going to happen.

If this scenario were to happen you’ll see President Obama loosing his cool and showing his true colors in front of the people.

If one thing I give credit to former President Bush is that he handled with cool grace and dignity all the shit that was thrown to him in public by his opponents.

I want to see how Obama will react when this same scenario happens to him. I guarantee you that you’ll see an arrogant, classless act coming from him.

Never mind conservative or liberal. All we need is people with some damn sense who know BS when they come across it and respond accordingly.

  • Cato

First we must get our terms staright Liberals where once represented by men like Adam Smith, David Hume,Herbert Spencer, Thomas Jefferson, and John Locke. At the begining of 20th century this terms was usurped by socialist who now having stained the term liberal are trying to "change" their classification to "progessive".
Obama and his ilk ARE NOT liberals they are SOCIALIST lets call a spade a spade.
