Two dumb ideas down, several hundred to go

The Obama administration seems to be on a roll as of late. After throwing the public option aspect of their attempt to take over health care under the proverbial Obama bus yesterday, they now have shut down their "Snitch on your neighbor for Obama" email address.

White House disables e-tip box

Following a furor over how the data would be used, the White House has shut down an electronic tip box — flag@whitehouse.gov — that was set up to receive information on “fishy” claims about President Barack Obama’s health plan.

E-mails to that address now bounce back with the message: “The email
address you just sent a message to is no longer in service. We are now accepting your feedback about health insurance reform via: http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck.”

That is great news for civil liberties in this country, but the administration is going to have a hard time washing its hands of this particular debacle. You see, the White House asking for, receiving, and keeping information on those that oppose them politically is illegal according to the Privacy Act of 1974. On the other hand, deleting any correspondence received by the White House is also illegal.

Quite a conundrum our Ivy League educated geniuses in the White House have gotten themselves into.

Nevertheless, there is still a lot more work to do Mr. President. Those dumb ideas aren't going to get rid of themselves--get crackin'!
