Ziva, I'm so grateful for having found this link, thank you so much for posting it. What a wonderful and nostalgic look at the Cuba we never knew, but know it existed. A link to this collection of videos should be pasted every website page, reader's comments, etc., where ignorant masses discuss amongst themselves what a wonderful job the revolution has done in Cuba, and what marvelous progress from the Batista "dictatorship". Especially to the creepy Canadians all chanting the tune of 'Aw, gee, look how much the Cubans suffer because of the nasty US embargo". They need to see what the lovely and independent, capitalist nation really looked like, the evidence of a majority of a mostly middle class population, contrasted by the atrocities and ravages of the last 50 years.
Aaaarg!, My blood boils over when I think about the rampant idiocy.

    Ziva,

It's a never ending source of frustration to me that all of this empirical evidence is apparently not enough for the masses that prefer to listen to the castroite propaganda that alleges that Cuba was nothing more than another Haiti in the Caribbean.

I think that part of the problem is that its hard for many people to believe that a Spanish speaking country in the Caribbean could be so classy, modern, clean and European.

    Rayarena,

For the last 50 years the MSM has made sure that regarding to the Cuban subject the truth have become lies and the lies have become the truth.

    Ziva:

Thank you a detail that might interest you on Item 170 "El Partido Socialista Popular conmemora el setenta" rught at the end of the row, you can observe a very small man with round glasses. He is almost certainly Fabio Grobart, the man that Iron Feliks sent to Cuba about 1924 to communize Cuba Stalin style. There is even a report in Juan Vives "Los Amos de Cuba" page 51,that he was there just before the attack on Moncada (remember Tony delaCova has documented the arrest of the leadership of the Cuban communist party-but not Grobart-in Santiago at that time). Vives (not his real name) was too young to know this directly, but since he is said to be godson of Celia Sanchez Manduleym he may have learned it from her). I have not been able to verify this from a second source and of course it is difficult to trace the steps of a "KGB" agent like Grobart. Still the Soviet freighter Zora was in Santiago Habor at that time. It is my considered opinion that Grobart, through intermediary cutouts, recruited both Fidel and Raul in the 1940s. If course if that were true a KGB agent rarely belongs to communist party of the country he operates, since such would "blow" his cover.

  • Larry, I have a photo I believe to be of Grobart, and although it is difficult because of the age difference in the two images, I think you are right. I can email the photo if you'd like. My guess it was taken not long before he died. I have long believed that the Castro brothers were recruited well before Bogotazo.

    Ziva:

The US National Archives sent me, at my request, the following document shows how apparently Grobart had friends in high places in the Grau administration:

State Department (RG 59) Central Decimal File, 811.20237/5-448 (confidential file), dated 5-4-48 in box 4588 2 pages. This is a letter from Lester D. Mallory, Counselor of (U.S. L.D.) Embassy (in Havana L.D.). It reads (this transcription and added notes are mine L.D.):

Subject: Alleged Arrest of Comunist Labor Leader Fabio Grobart

Addressed to: The Honorable The Secretary of State Washington

Sir: I have the honor to report that the English Havana Post and several of the Spanish Habana dailies carried on May 2, 1948 a report that the legendary “Comunist leader Fabio GROBART and two Russian secret agents were arrested on May 1, by members of the Military Intelligence Service (SIM L.D.) and the American Federal Bureau of Investigation” . This newspaper report, which was admittedly unconfirmed, went on to say that the men were being held incommunicado in the military prison at Camp Colubia but would be sent to the United States.

The police liaison officer of this Embassy, William C. SPEARS of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, reported that the head of the Cuban Buro de Investigaciones, Major de BECHE, had told him that he knew nothing whatsoever about the arrest of Grobart and felt that the story was a Communist “plant”, following out the thesis which the Communists of Cuba have been expounding that the Federal Bureau of Investigations was extremely active in Cuba and in fact controlled the Cuban Buro de Investigaciones. (Reference Embassy’s dispatch No. 350 of April 27, 1948, entitled “Communist Daily Hoy^ Alleges that Gestapo has been Organized in Habana”.). It would also appear that the Communists are also trying to infer that MIS (MI5 L.D.) is operating in Habana. (my opinion is if they were not they were idiots L.D.)

(Then next page (2) is entitled L.D.) CONFIDENTIAL The daily Luz, believed to be a mouth piece for the (end of the soft on communist Grau L.D.) Administration, carried the same day a denial that Grbart had been arrested and the Havana Post May 4 alleged that its Sunday story had been rewritten form another newspaper and that the use of the words “American Federal Bureau of Investigation” was an error, because the FBI has no agents in Cuba and because even if it did [(; >) L.D.], it would have no authority to make arrests on Cuban soil. The Communist daily Hoy has not carried any report on this incident in any form.

    Respectfully yours,

    For The Ambassador:
    Lester D. Mallory
    Counselor of Embassy

    VLansing Collins, Jr./Ida

    CONFIDENTIAL

NOTE THAT LESS THAN A MONTH BEFORE IN APRIL FIDEL CASTRO HAD PARTICIPATED IN
    THE BOGOTAZO

In my view Alfredo (not Ernesto) Guevara was a "cut out for Grobart" and he as well of Castro (apparently acting as a "finger man") along with Rafael del Pino were involved in the murder of Gaitan.

This, if my assumptions are correct, suggest that the murder of Gaitan typical complex "KGB" style murder, with "fingerman,"
"triggerman," "fall guy" and "cleanup squad" to kill fall guy. coverup, .
