And it is a common tactic of the left to add earmarks to defense spending bills that no responsible congressman would support. This does two things, both bad. It takes money that is supposed to be for defense spending and diverts it to pet projects or bad policy as in this example. And when responsible congressmen vote against the bill because they refuse to support bad spending, the dems can then use that to brag about how the candidate voted against defense funding.

Cubabuzz, this is now your cue to enlighten us all about how it isn't only the dems who do this.

Cubabuzz, I wouldn't support any earmarked funds for representatives pet projects, in the above portion of the article, where it mentions a new WW2 museum, that project was at the urging of a Republican, although in my criticism of that museum, I fail to mention this.
As Alberto states, "nothing gets done without their approval", and it is a Democrats house, it is a Democrats Senate, it is a Democrats Administration.

Here in Canada, we are up to our necks with Conservatives in name only, I know what you refer to. I would love to see a truly conservative party both here and in the USA that followed the constitutions to the letter.

Alberto, sorry, I was in particular referring to the comments by marc and Ziva above mine not your comments.

While I agree the Dems shoulder lots of blame, the actions of the RINOs (or whatever you want to call them) should not escape people's notice here.

Gee, cubabuzz, maybe you're the only one that didn't read my post. I did not say the Democrats were the only ones guilty of this act. I said that it was the "Democrat led senate" that was guilty.

You can try and pick out who was worse than the other, but both houses of congress are controlled by Democrats and nothing, absolutely nothing gets done without their approval. The Democrats are the ones that ultimately shoulder the blame for this atrocity because they are the ones that control everything. When the Republicans controlled things, they were to blame, even for the stupidities of Barney Frank, which they allowed to take place.

You can't be the boss only in good times.

Gees, am I the ONLY person here who actually reads beyond the headline of any article that gets posted?

The disgrace here is totally bipartisan. The Republicans (e.g., Sens Vitter, Collin, Snow to name just a few) are doing their fair share of slobbering at the trough. In fact, the article says that Republican Sen. Thad Cochran of Mississippi is about the worst of the bunch (even worse than Inouye!), with 48 sponsored earmarks worth $216 million!

Call those guys RINOs if you like, it doesn't change the fact that they are waving the Republican banner. The Democrats deserve blame, but so do the Republicans.

Will the Ted Kennedy Educational Institute have a pool out front dedicated to Mary Jo?
Michael Moore stated a few weeks ago, that all those executions in Cuba happened 40 years ago, does he think someday that those that fight for freedom will forgive and forget? I imagine the same would go for those that love Ted.
Do they (Democrats) not realize that if the troops are not well funded, those monuments or museums will be monuments to their own stupidity?
