A note from Carlos Eire

Just received the following from our esteemed professor up at Yale U:

I've been meaning to convey some news to you, and this is as good a time as any.

I just published another book: "A Very Brief History of Eternity" (Princeton University Press). Take a look on Amazon. It's not about Cuba, but it is about the biggest and most important topic of all. And all Cubans will be delighted to see how I manage to fill the text with many sneak attacks against Castrolandia and Marxism at every turn. In fact, the big argument in the book is that beliefs make one hell of a difference in the way people live, and that Marxists, materialists, and leftists who see all of history as class struggle are full of horseshit.

Amazon's got it, you can buy it right here.

But wait! There's more!

And.... this summer I went nuts again. Me dio un arrebato. So I wrote a sequel to Waiting for Snow in Havana. I'm all done, all I have left to do is a few minor revisions. The book has been purchased by Free Press and will be coming out in 2010. It covers my first four years in the U.S., and the title is "Learning to Die in Miami." Free Press will also publish a Spanish translation.

How's that for great news?

I will check it out, and can't wait for "Learning to Die in Miami".
I still remember, you and your dad in the car driving through the breaking waves en el Malecon and the lizards, in "Waiting for Snow in Havana".

  • Excellent news, I'm looking forward to reading both, but especially "Learning to Die in Miami." Ditto what Ricardo said about the lingering memories from "Waiting for Snow in Havana."
