Now, compare the death toll from trying to escape east Berlin (153) to the death toll compiled by our friends at Cuba Archives of those who died trying to escape Cuba (a nation formerly deluged with immigrants) ...It's official: Cubans belong to a different species. nobody gives a Flying Flip about the Cuban dead, who total a multiple of the German dead and who perished much more horrifically....and who continue to perish...
Indeed, some of the very European govs celebrating today provide Cuba's Stalinists with the financial means to continue the killing ...

And to add, few, if any, held up East Germany or Eastern Europe as some wonderful example to envy and follow. Pampered Hollywood limo-lib elites didn't flock there to have their pictures taken shaking hands or rubbing tail with those dictators. Nobody was promoting Eastern Europe or East Germany as societal or economic models to follow.
Most everyone recognized the oppression and daily injustices there.
