Running to where fear is born.
Mediaite has an excellent interview of Yoani Sanchez following her brutal treatment by castro's violence professionals this past Friday:
In the post you wrote about the attack, you state that the actions of your kidnappers were motivated by the “the blustering terror of he who knows that his days are numbered.”
Yes, because when the arguments and the faith in a system are over, when the people stop believing in a certain political discourse, those who are in charge can only resort to violence and restraint. This is what we are seeing in Cuba now: the absence of any sort of argument, handling people through violence and fear. This is all we have left. There is no symbolical legacy, none the things that existed in the first years of the [revolutionary] process. Terror is the only thing that remains.
Read the whole thing, right here.

A lot of you might not want to hear this, but I been hearing this wishful thinking "Days are numbered for 40 years" Do you realize that we are heading down that same road at breakneck speed? All that Yoani got was a warning!
Do you realize that we give those out here too in the USA?
IF you don't believe me read it for yourself......
"Democratic consultant says he got a warning from White House after appearing on Fox News"

Do you realize that there are certain topics that can not be talked about unless you leave the country? that's why journalist Janet Phelan who was recently threatened and is documented on my blog had to leave the country because she was afraid for her life? I had to leave the country in order to exercise free speech after I was threatened too!
Moral of the story: Worry less about the democracy that you lost and worry more about the one that you are about to lose.
At least Janet Phelan who reported on the probate murders and was widely published:http://www.supremelaw.org/cc/care/The%20War%20on%20the%20Vulnerable.htm
and myself were able to leave the country to escape retaliation whereas Yoani is being held prisioner and unable to travel to escape retaliation, my prayers and thoughts go out to her Janet Phelan and all the brave souls who refuse to be muffled by the shackles of tyranny.
Sooooooo rayloves, Are you saying that the warning (BEATING)that Yoani got in Cuba...is the norm in our country?
Yoani has a very valid point and since she's there to observe it, it may just be that these security / gestapo goons sense that their run isn't going to last forever; desperation takes many forms. Do they really believe they can keep this up indefinitely? Probably not. I have a hard time believing that so-called "reconciliation" can take place overnight when the regime crashes, as it will, given all the abuses and hell the regime has put people through. You can't just forgive and forget, like many dialogueros want: justice is screaming from every corner, and just like the Berlin wall crumbled, justice's day will come.
