Not so fast on Honduras!

"(The U.S.) stopped short of formally recognizing Lobo as the country's next president and says Honduras must still take steps toward political reconciliation before it can emerge from the isolation brought by the June 28 ouster of President Zelaya.

"Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Arturo Valenzuela said the United States wants to see Mr. Zelaya restored to office. "

Entire amazing thing here.

In his "scholarly' writings, you will never in a million gazillion years guess who (between Pinochet and Fidel Castro) the Chilean-born Valenzuela describes as "dictator."

And though, in those writings, he advocates an end to the U.S. "embargo" of Cuba, you will never in a million gazillion years guess what Valenzuela advocated for Pinochet's Chile.

Humberto (and Val, as I see you included this topic in your post of Santa lists) -

I'm thinking back to early this past summer in Iran ... the MILLIONS of Iranians protesting for weeks and months in the streets ... being beaten and killed. Dragged off to prisons and recently sentenced to be hanged for protesting their election and the highly questionable results. And this Administration's deafening silence, breaking that to only mumble support for the results ... NOT for the obvious MAJORITY of people in the streets.

    Remember???

Let me just say this in addition. We are all looking forward to 2010 and 2012 to correct the FUBAR within our own government in this country. Yet, the Congresscritters see the growing opposition to their incumbencies of office and seem to have no fear about cramming communist bill after bill down this nation's throat.

Some are saying it's because they are just Kamikazes for the cause they are inflicting on us. I'm of a growing mind that they are not suicidal politically, but fearless because they already have plans for 2010 and 2012 to INSURE they are never removed from power of this country, and us.

Augusto Pinochet was the best thing that ever happened to Latin America. People in Venezuela, Bolivia, Uruguay Nicaragua, etc can only wish for a man of that stature (figuratively speaking) to step forward and save their countries from the abyss.
Cuban's could have used one about 50 years ago themselves, hell the US could use one too.
