Charlie Crist henchman has disdain for “slick” Miami “packages”

Mike Fasano, a Republican state senator from New Port Richey who is supporting Charlie Crist in his run for the Republican Senate nomination had this to say to the Miami Herald:

"How worried am I? On a scale of one to 10, I'm about seven,'' said state Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, who wants the Crist campaign to more aggressively challenge Rubio's conservative credentials.

Well, he should be worried because Good Time Charlie is getting his ass handed to him in the latest polls. But here's the thing, the Herald, omitted a little gem that Fasano uttered to the reporter.

"How worried am I? On a scale of one to 10, I'm about seven,'' said state Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, who wants the Crist campaign to more aggressively challenge Rubio's conservative credentials. "Rubio is a slick package from Miami, and people have not seen the other side of Marco Rubio and who he is, where he stands and his flip-flopping, whether it be taxes or cap-and-trade or high speed rail."

How do I know Fasano said this? Simple. The St. Pete Times ran a similar article, in fact it was their reporter that did the original reporting which the Herald regurgitated minus the jab.

Now let me ask you something? Is the next Senator from Florida going to represent all of Florida except Miami? Why should Rubio's being from Miami mean anything to a GOP primary voter? The politics of division. Good ole Charlie is looking more like a Democrat every day.

If anyone could ever be accused of being "slick package" it's Suntan Charlie who talks a good game but has revealed himself to be one of these "any way the wind blows" Republicans.

Forgetting the jab at Rubio for being from South Florida for a second, why doesn't Charlie simply confront Rubio on his supposed "flip flops" in a debate? I mean why has he been dodging them all along? He says it's cause he's been too busy sucking up to Obama governing but I suspect it has to do with the gigantic lead he once had in the polls and the gigantic war chest he has to run negative ads about Marco. Why give Marco a chance to refute any of the half-baked allegations?

Remember to donate to Marco Rubio's campaign.

Exit question: why would the Herald omit Fasano's contempt for Miami from its version of the article?

i bet you charlie is going to be changing his tune on debates real soon. won't matter, Rubio is a better speaker, more presentable, has the "it" factor...and oh yeah, has the facts on his side.

  • The Marco Rubio For Senator campaign took a break from its Teabag Party partying to denounce a Crist supporter who claimed that he was "a slick package from Miami."

The Rubio campaign is making it clear that using "Rubio" and "Miami" in the same sentence is totally inappropriate.

Campaign spokesman Alex Burgos came close to suggesting that Fasano was trying to appeal to negative stereotypes about Hispanic politicians from the cesspool of corruption that is South Florida.

"We know what he's getting at," Burgos said. "There's something about Miami that he thought was important to include in that description...It's alarming given the subtle references and connections that the Crist campaign has tried to etch in voters' minds about Marco Rubio and his record and how that all plays into where he's from."

If there's one group of folks that knows about the "politics of division" it's you Babalu boys. But I digress.

Of course we all know what's really going on here. There is no one who knows the Republican base better than the Republican base. Minorities aren't exactly over represented in the GOP. There's a reason for that. You Babalu Little Limbaughs knows it. Alex Burgos knows it. And you can damn well bet that Marco Rubio knows it. Marco and his handlers know that the last thing they want Billy Bob from Sumter County to think about is that Marco Rubio is a daggum Cubano from Miamah.

Oh, Marco. Come back to South Florida where you can proudly wear your guayaberas and sip your cafecitos and explain to so many of your constituents why they don't count.

    Rick,

The Spanish Dictionary posted your picture right next to the word "COMEMIERDA" as example of what that word means.

  • Rick,

God, you are such a racist tool. Marco Rubio has won every single straw poll conducted throughout the state of Florida, including the "Billy Bobs" as you so deride them in pretty much every county.

You have managed with one comment to not only show your racism towards the Cuban American community, but your elitist intolerance for Americans throughout the state as well as exposing your homophobia with your "teabag" comment. Im glad you did, though, as we'll keep it as a record of the progressive liberal mentality.

I'd call you a complete asshole, but that would be an insult to assholes and would be nowhere near the vicinity of just how huge an asshole you are.

Dude, quit while your way behind.

  • Like leftists can't be racists...

They're scared, folks. Scared that Rubio will run away with the primary and general election.
