Honduras barred from Summit of Latin American and Caribbean Unity–Cuba Welcomed!

The Honduran government "is not democratic"--claim the representatives from: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago.

Therefore it cannot hob-knob with the above diplomatic parties in Cancun this week during The Summit of Latin American and Caribbean Unity --where Raul Castro will be guest of honor while the above worthies unanimously bash the U.S. "Blockade!"

Makes you wish Gen. Winnfield Scott and his captain Robert E. Lee woulda kept pushing south after stomping Mexico, and the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo would have extended U.S. Manifest Destiny--not only to the Pacific Coast--but to the Straits of Magellan......and whose bright idea was it to repeal that Platt Amendment, anyway?

Unreal

Sickening. But considering the company, it may be an honor not to be included.
I have been wondering about how Honduras is doing since it has not been in the news lately. The last I heard the embargo had hurt them. This valiant country should be rewarded not punished.

Well, apparently the situation in Honduras is worsening.

With the killing of five journalists in March, Honduras has become the world's most dangerous country for media professionals, a new report says.

The report by Paris-based media watchdog Reporters Sans Frontieres Borders (RSF) said Friday 'no one has been brought to justice for any of the murders or any of the physical attacks or acts of intimidation or censorship of journalists and human rights activists' in the country in recent months.

The two most recent incidents where reporters were killed occurred on March 26, when two journalists of the Excelsior and Super 10 radio station were shot dead inside their car in Juticalpa town.

Meanwhile, a correspondent for Radio America was forced to leave the country after an attempt on his life on March 26.

RSF said the journalist 'took the risk of reporting violations of free expression and human rights that have taken place since June last year.'
