Solidarity from our Friends in Poland and Czechoslovakia
"The Czech parliament observed a minute of silence (for Orlando Zapata-Tamayo) , while former Polish president and Nobel peace prize winner Lech Walesa called on all nations "to join hands and refuse to have anything to do with either Fidel or Raul Castro or any of their descendants."

But are those who want the embargo lifted noticing this?
I despair, I really do.
At a conference at Columbia University Friday night regarding the aftermath of Communism in Eastern Europe I had a long conversation with the Czech Amb. to the United Nations. He took great interest in my mention of Cuba and how lessons learned from the financial and cultural change in Eastern Europe in the 1990's will be applied to Cuba....someday. I was the only person to speak of Cuba at the conference at the very liberal
Columbia University.
The Czech Amb. mentioned that he met socially with the Cuban Amb to the UN in an effort to create dialogue. He was surprised that the Cuban accepted. It is moving how the Czech and Poles are deeply interested in starting demcoratic change in Cuba. They like the Cubans know what it is like to be thrown under the bus by the West.
But why would the Cuban ambassador want to meet with him? Is a person appointed by the Cuban government given freedom to cooperate with anyone? I would think his job would be to corrupt non communists, not to be friendly.
God Bless Mr. Lech Wa??sa!
