Toyota has several plants in the US, so many of their cars are US-made and are technically not "foreign"; on the other hand, US automakers do take their business abroad to cut costs. I remember my shock years ago when I saw itty bitty "Fords" on the road in Europe. I read months ago that Toyota has less overhead because they run a very streamlined operation and do not pay outrageous wages for the same job that unionized workers get paid. It makes sense. But I apologize for not having the source where I read it, I just remember it.
