  • asombra: It’s painful to see this kind of ambivalence, not to say equivocation, from a Cuban this late in the game. Not a good sign.

  • asombra: If the Netherlands was prepared to disgrace itself with a royal visit to Maduro, it was hardly likely to play hardball here.

Former officials of totalitarian regime booted from U.S.

"But I was only following orders, your honor!"

" U.S. immigration judge has ordered an 85-year-old retired steelworker deported to Austria, or to any other country that will accept him, for serving as an armed Nazi death camp guard during World War II....."As a Nazi concentration camp guard during World War II, Anton Geiser must be held to account for his role in the persecution of countless men, women and children," Assistant U.S. Attorney General Lanny Breuer said in a statement Tuesday. "The long passage of time will not diminish our resolve to deny refuge to such individuals."

Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo--Boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this legal precedent spreads to South Florida, who will Maria Elvira and Haza invite on their shows?...Who will the Miami Herald quote as impecable "sources"? Who will NPR, the NY Times, etc, etc. etc. profile and interview as "moderate" or "enlightened" or "non-hardline" Cuban exiles?

The mind reels

Unfortunately its only thugs of the "right" (by this I mean the socialist right, fascist) that this administration or the press of this country will condemn. Thugs of the socialist left (communist) always get a free pass. If Geiser had killed for Stalin, Pol Pot or Fidel he would have been given a medal is my guess and we would have been told what a great man he was while honorably serving his country. Makes me mad as hell but I but thats what I think.
