Despite a PR and marketing blitz that had Oliver Stone on a whirlwind tour of Latin America, his latest documentary “South of the Border” has sunk like a rock at the Venezuelan box office.

Yes, appearances can be deceiving, but they can also be quite accurate (and bad appearances tend to be accurate more often than good ones, since practically nobody tries to look bad on purpose, and plenty of people try to look better than they are). How anybody could look at and listen to Chavez and want him as their president defies rational understanding. And yes, Venezuelans DID want him, at first. At the very least, they should be VERY ashamed of their folly.
