MIAMI (AP) -- The Justice Department wants to end a lawsuit filed by a woman seeking $27 million from eight air charter companies that fly from South Florida to Cuba.
Court papers filed this week ask a federal judge to rule against Ana Margarita Martinez. The Justice Department says she has no right to seek money from the charter companies to satisfy a 2001 legal judgment against the Cuban government.
The Justice Department also says the Cuban charter flights are a vital part of U.S. foreign policy.
