FIDEL CASTRO: Old Boca Grande
Meet Fidel Castro, old Boca Grande himself. The sculpture* captures his (as opposed to his audiences) enthusiasm in imparting wisdom during rambling 8 hour speeches. Attendance mandatory and god help you if you leave during this dissemination of wisdom.El Mentiroso is presenting his big, big carrot of Libertad and Freedom to an enthusiastic Cuba but spin him around and we discover that El Enganoso is actually delivering a huge surprise to his island nation.*Boca Grande is a new caricature in the series, The Dictators: Cheap Tin soldiers. All original sculptures are in clay. Clay is dirt. How appropriate.
Sculptures are copyright jmcnalis 2010.
The Many Faces of CHE GUEVARA*
1. A key figure in deposing the Batista regime.
2. A key figure in the New regime. Appointed Minister of Industry and President of the National Bank. Unqualified and inept, Che crippled the Cuban economy which resulted in food rationing.
3. Che reassigned. Che the vengeful. Che the butcher. The master of torture and death in the notorious La Cabana Fortress prison (reminiscent of Batista and Stalin).
4. Inept revolutionary. Led military misadventures in the Congo and Bolivia. Unable to recruit Latin American peasants for his revolution.
5. The Blown-Away Che. Killed by Bolivians who were not enthused by his effort to share the benefits of "la revolution".
6. Gay Che, the Red who was also known as Pinkie (with apologies to gay people everywhere).Principal & lasting international image
1. Chic Che Fashionista. The number one T shirt Rebel Cutie. The James Dean of Revolutionaries. The darling of capitalist merchants who thrive on nit wits who buy the posters and T shirts who have no idea who this cute poster boy really is.
*Che is another in the series The Dictators: Cheap Tin soldiers. All original sculptures are in clay. Clay is dirt. How appropriate.
Original sculptures copyright jmcnalis 2010.

Cool. Can't find his website/place where he sells them, though.
These are awesome!
No particular Website or Blog, only bits and pieces of him and his great work, throughout the world wide web. The Email was sent to me late last night. I replied and explained where I was going to place (Babalu) the caricatures and his message, as is. No reply as of now.
Wow! I hope that he decides to market those pieces! I would be the first to buy one! If anyone finds out if and when they go on sale, please let us know!
Thanks!

Love them! I hope he decides to reproduce these in editions we can all buy. As an painter, I enjoy doing the occasional satire too. Here is a link to my Cuban Zombies miniature paintings: http://mazastudio.blogspot.com/2010/06/fun-with-cuban-zombies.html. Zombie Che has sold, but the others are still available. Send an Email if you are interested.
