Reina Luisa Tamayo to leave Cuba within days

Punt de Vista spoke to Reina Luisa Tamayo, the mother of the martyred Cuban prisoner of conscience Orlando Zapata Tamayo, and is reporting that Reina and her family will be leaving Cuba in the next few days.

My translation:

Reina Luisa Tamayo expects to leave Cuba in the next few days

The mother of Orlando Zapata Tamayo, Reina Luisa Tamayo Danger, told Punt de Vista this Monday that the opposition member's family expects to receive notice from the U.S. this week so they can leave Cuba. A week ago, the department of Refugees asked Reina Luisa the status regarding the exhumation of her son's remains. In a conversation with this blog, Reina said that she approached State Security who told her that as soon as she had a travel date, they only needed 72 hours notice to exhume and cremate the remains in Havana.

"We had contacted State Security more than a week ago because the department of Refugees had asked if we already had the remains in hand; I got in contact with Major Douglas from Security," Zapata Tamayo's mother said.

Based on these events, the family is confident it will be contacted in the next few days to leave the country, before the end of April, taking into consideration that "the exit permit expires on the 24th of May." At the moment, Reina does not know when her son's remains will be exhumed: "I cannot say that they will exhume his remains today. We are at home and we don't know anything, but we have hope that they will call us this week."

In regards to the expectations she has about her trip into exile, Reina Luisa says that her objective is to "save my sons and my grandson, and continue struggling against the regime of the Castros."

She also commented on the last Communist Party Congress, saying that "it had no objective and no success." In Reina's estimation, "there has been nothing, no evolution for a people that continue to suffer."
