Happy Mother’s Day!
I love cooking for my mom on Mother's Day. My mom complains that I shouldn't do it because it's too hot, but I love it. I really do. In a little less than an hour I will start the grill and begin the cooking for today's celebrations. I'll be making some very pretty steaks today for the great moms in my life: ribeyes for my elderly mom and my wife, and a filet mignon for my sister. All three are mom exemplars. The rest of the attendees will be treated to ribeyes and filet mignons, as well as my mom's ajiaco, some chocolate cake a dulce-leche brazo gitano and plenty of Budweiser -- yes, Val, Budweiser -- for me. You can't say "no" to Costco specials.
It is an understatement to say that our mothers are the very fiber of who we are. Without them, we would have nothing, we are here because they are. So today, to all the moms out there, I wish all of you the very best of days and hoping your sons, daughters, grandsons, and granddaughters rain blessings and joy on you. To all the moms and grandmoms that have passed, I hope their family will lift a glass in their memory and salute them with a smile and and a big thank you.
Thanks for everything mami.
