Dozens of Cuban opposition members arrested, Pastor’s home surrounded by Castro military
Dozens have been detained in Santa Clara in conjunction with the eviction of Pastor Yordi Toranzo
Dissidents are reporting via social networks that there have been dozens of detentions in Santa Clara in the last hours as part of a police operation in conjunction with the eviction of Methodist pastor Yordi Toranzo.
According to Yoani Sánchez on Twitter, who cited information received from Guillermo Fariñas, 21 opposition members were arrested in Villa Clara, and 34 others were placed under house arrest to avoid protests over the eviction of Toranzo.
Toranzo told DIARIO DE CUBA that the house he lives in, which is property of the Methodist Church, was surrounded and that military personnel have cordoned off a 400 meter circle around the home.
"We are surrounded, and there are even people on the roof of the house," said the clergyman.
