What the cause for a free Cuba is up against

Many believe it is only the Castro brothers and their minions on the island who fight to maintain the yoke of tyranny on the Cuban people. But in reality, the forces aligned to maintain Cuba enslaved and the monarchical Castro dictatorship in power are vast. And in addition to their numbers, they are well organized and well funded.

A friend sent me a link to a website that exposes the benefactors and operations of the CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington). Even though CREW tries to portray itself as a bipartisan group, the organization enjoys the financial support of the most radical leftist entities in the country. And what makes this news even more disturbing is that CREW is not just committed to promoting leftist ideology in the U.S., but they are also committed to helping the Castro dictatorship by attacking those who fight for the human rights and dignity of the Cuban people.

CREW insists that its donors do not play a role in determining its agenda. But the organization has attacked politicians and organizations that are foes of its contributors.

Cuba: The Arca Foundation gives significant funding to groups advocating opening ties to Cuba and reducing travel restrictions to the communist nation. Since 2004, CREW (an Arca grantee) has filed four complaints with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging improper campaign contributions by the US-Cuba Democracy PAC, a political action committee that supports a tough stance against Fidel Castro’s regime.

Not surprisingly, CREW has never criticized its own donors or their causes. Corruption charges have dogged American labor unions, for example, but CREW has never filed a single complaint against a union.

As you can see, the cause for a free Cuba is being attacked not just from the Castro regime in Havana, but from various other sources. People wonder how the Castro dictatorship has been able to survive 52 years: apparently, they have some very wealthy, resourceful, and loyal friends.

You can read the full report on CREW and their dubious donors and causes HERE. It is quite an interesting and disturbing read.
