Cuban dissidents protest the murder of Wilman Villar Mendoza

Via Pedazos de la Isla:

Dissidents protest against the Cuban regime’s murder of political prisoner Wilman Villar Mendoza in a neighborhood of Guantanamo.  In addition to paying tribute to the fallen Villar Mendoza, once can also hear screams of “Laura Pollan Lives!” (fallen leader of the Ladies in White) at the moment when politcal police vehicles arrive on the scene to arrest them.

While watching this video I caught myself almost used to seeing this. It is amazing how accustomed we have become to these atrocities. How can the world watch and ignore this?

    pototo,

As wacky as it sounds I must agree with dr. Eire's post of a few days ago that Fidel and Raul Castro must have a pact with the Devil that allows them to blind the rest of the world to the atrocities they commit on their own people.

As I gotten older and try to discern the motives why they have been allowed by the whole world to get away with evil for so long and I cannot find no other answer than that.

    Correction,

How can the world ignore this? Simple. Cubans have “free” health care and education (in exchange for their freedom and human rights, of course), and they certainly can’t expect any more. I mean, it’s not like they’re Canadians or anything. Besides, official Cuban sources, routinely quoted by foreign media with little or no questioning, have declared that all dissidents are paid lackeys of the Empire, so there’s really no true opposition in Cuba to worry about. Like former Brazilian president Lula said of Orlando Zapata in the wake of his death, it was just a common delinquent, not a real political prisoner. It’s not that hard to see everything the way it suits you, as opposed to the way it is.
