German photojournalist denied access by Castro regime
Apparently, it was supposed to be a puff-piece disseminating more of the Castro propaganda regarding the Cuban 5, the Castro spies serving time in the U.S. for espionage and their complicity in the murder of four innocent Brothers to the Rescue Pilots. But when German photojournalist Sven Creutzmann attempted to contact Rene Gonzalez, one of the spies released from prison and serving parole in Miami, the Castro regime immediately revoked his access and forbid him from writing the article.
Naturally, the last thing the Castro dictatorship wants is for a journalist who is otherwise sympathetic to the regime to see the relatively good-life being enjoyed by one of their "heroes" who is supposedly suffering in the belly of the imperial beast.
Via Penúltimos Días (my translation):
Sven Creutzmann, a German photographer based on the island, asked the International Press Center of Havana for permission to do a project on the five spies detained in the U.S., who are referred to as "heroes" by Cuban propaganda. The idea was to do a photo report of the actual life of Rene Gonzalez, who was recently released but remains in the U.S. serving parole. But when Sven arrived in Florida and attempted to make contact, State Security revoked his access and told him he could not do his reports. His travel and living expenses thrown to the wayside.
