Like The U.N. Needs Another Hole in The Head…

As if Iran and other oppressive countries sitting on the United Nations' "Human Rights Council" isn't obscene and bizarre enough, now comes Venezuela's monkey boy to insist he is some pillar of preserving the human rights of others. The U.N. is a laughable parody of itself, a lame cartoon. But the Human Rights Council is a bad joke.

Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chávez is seeking a seat on the United Nations’ Human Rights Council, the group U.N. Watch reports. The independent watchdog group also says that Pakistan is additionally “slated to run unopposed for seats on the UN’s 47-nation Human Rights Council this year.”

“It’s an outrage,” U.N. Watch executive director Hillel Neuer says in a press release, “due to their poor records on human rights protection at home and on human rights promotion at the UN.”

Neuer explains why it is ridiculous Venezuela could even be considered for such a position. “These are hypocritical candidacies. Chavez throws judges and critics in jail, bullies young student activists and uses his UN vote to shield the atrocities of others. Venezuela just voted against UN action on the horrific massacres perpetrated by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.”

Last year, Syria sought a seat on the same committee—a seat that was vacated when Libyan strongman Muammar Qaddafi was booted from the Human Rights Council.

Speaking of Iran, right now a Christian (convert, and "apostate") Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani sits in an Iranian jail and is very close to being executed after REFUSING at least three times to deny his Christianity before an Iranian judge/court. And what does the U.N. Special Rapporteur have to say to U.N. Human Rights Council Iran about all of this?

The Special Rapporteur was particularly disturbed by a recent ruling of the Supreme Court that upheld a death sentence for Yousef Nadarkhani, a Protestant pastor who was reportedly born to Muslim parents but converted to Christianity when he was 19 years old. The verdict reads that, unless he decides to renounce his Christianity, Mr. Nadarkahni will be executed by hanging.

However, Iran’s Judiciary Chief, Ayatollah Sadegh Larijani, who is directly involved in prosecuting and sentencing Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani defends Iran's horrific human rights record and insists Iran is the “freest” nation in the world.

The United Nations has gone far beyond being useless to being an enabler to any and all tyrannical dictatorships around the world.

Please keep Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani in your prayers as we begin this Holy season of Lent?
