Electile Dysfunction … When The Unicorn Horn Goes Limp

As I replied to the Peggy Noonan commentary link Jim Treacher posted on his Face Book status I realized my multiple comments were pretty much my own commentary in progress, so I went with it...

As we approach the most important election of this nation's history those that praised Obama in 2008, some that grace our TV screens and print media that bought into the unicorn dust and Messiah imagery, find themselves astonished Obama not only isn't what they thought he was ... but that he is exactly what WE warned he was, and would be, and what he would do to our country. Writer Peggy Noonan is one as she wakes up and realizes: Not-So-Smooth Operator Obama increasingly comes across as devious and dishonest.

Something's happening to President Obama's relationship with those who are inclined not to like his policies. They are now inclined not to like him. His supporters would say, "Nothing new there," but actually I think there is. I'm referring to the broad, stable, nonradical, non-birther right. Among them the level of dislike for the president has ratcheted up sharply the past few months.

It's not due to the election, and it's not because the Republican candidates are so compelling and making such brilliant cases against him. That, actually, isn't happening.

What is happening is that the president is coming across more and more as a trimmer, as an operator who's not operating in good faith. This is hardening positions and leading to increased political bitterness. And it's his fault, too. As an increase in polarization is a bad thing, it's a big fault.

The shift started on Jan. 20, with the mandate that agencies of the Catholic Church would have to provide services the church finds morally repugnant. The public reaction? "You're kidding me. That's not just bad judgment and a lack of civic tact, it's not even constitutional!" Faced with the blowback, the president offered a so-called accommodation that even its supporters recognized as devious. Not ill-advised, devious. Then his operatives flooded the airwaves with dishonest—not wrongheaded, dishonest—charges that those who defend the church's religious liberties are trying to take away your contraceptives.

What a sour taste this all left. How shocking it was, including for those in the church who'd been in touch with the administration and were murmuring about having been misled.

Events of just the past 10 days have contributed to the shift. There was the open-mic conversation with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in which Mr. Obama pleaded for "space" and said he will have "more flexibility" in his negotiations once the election is over and those pesky voters have done their thing. On tape it looked so bush-league, so faux-sophisticated. When he knew he'd been caught, the president tried to laugh it off by comically covering a mic in a following meeting. It was all so . . . creepy.

Next, a boy of 17 is shot and killed under disputed and unclear circumstances. The whole issue is racially charged, emotions are high, and the only memorable words from the president's response were, "If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon" At first it seemed OK—not great, but all right—but as the story continued and suddenly there were death threats and tweeted addresses and congressmen in hoodies, it seemed insufficient to the moment. At the end of the day, the public reaction seemed to be: "Hey buddy, we don't need you to personalize what is already too dramatic, it's not about you."

Now this week the Supreme Court arguments on ObamaCare, which have made that law look so hollow, so careless, that it amounts to a characterological indictment of the administration. The constitutional law professor from the University of Chicago didn't notice the centerpiece of his agenda was not constitutional? How did that happen?

I'm not sure if Noonan is aware that throughout her meme about Obama's disconnect with the American people she has basically described Obama's Machiavellian mentality of 'better to be feared than loved'. He doesn't give a rat's ass about what we think about him (as long as it's not broadcast or put to print ... and then let-loose the Media matters hounds of Hell's septic tank). The disgruntled mumbling of the masses is no skin off his backside. The masses, as even Mao believed, will eventually stop bitching and resisting and just accept their "new norm". He loves himself more than enough for the rest of us...

Since the 2008 election cycle I have trusted nothing Noonan says. Anyone in the elitist media, at any level and of either political stripe, that outwardly claimed things, such as, "He'll govern from the center ... He'll bring needed change to Washington ... He'll reach across the aisle and work with republicans for the good of the nation" and is now, somehow, astonished Obama is exactly what WE said he was/would be back during that election (and WE were deemed crazy and racists) should now be weeping at our feet for forgiveness.

By the way, just a reminder, Noonan stepped away from her writing career during the 2004 POTUS election to work to re-elect Pres. George W. Bush because (paraphrasing here) Peggy felt it was that important of an election, especially during the height of the Iraq war and Kerry looking incredibly weak on national security in the face of world opposition/negative opinion.

My outrage is not really with the liberals/left that believed his fairytale claims because they knew what Obama was all about and what achieving those goals would entail, although they are pissed because he has not gone full Hugo Chavez in the last three years of his administration. My outrage is with those "conservative" commentators that were more than willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt. As stated above, they really believed he would govern as a moderate. The man was recorded expressing his distaste and disagreement with the very U.S. Constitution the country expected him to swear the ultimate oath to uphold and preserve/protect ... and himself abide and govern by. On his Inauguration day in 2009 we should ALL have been taken aback by the irony of his needing to take his oath of office twice in one day. For most, that would indicate God was somehow giving him a sign he had better take seriously that the office he was stepping into was set in stone, and was NOT to be changed to his likeness simply because he did not agree with the U.S. Constitution telling him what he could not do. I would imagine Barry Obama has never been told "No" his whole life.

Weeks before the November 2008 election audio and video of the stark truth inside Obama, beyond the Hollywood-like campaign speeches to the weeping and fainting masses, there were indications of this guy's intent ... from his costly and economically deadly energy agenda to his plans for wealth redistribution which flies in the face of private property and a capitalist system. And let us not forget why little, if anything, is making much sense right now as Michelle Obama said we would be changing our conversation and history to fit Barack Obama's agenda. That is why they have depended so heavily on the MSM to translate their words and deeds for the rest of us, and attack those who dare resist.

And yet, those in the MSM that believe themselves so much more educated, intelligent, and enlightened than we unwashed masses who tried hard to warn them in 2008, under a barrage of "racist" and "negative" charges from them, are surprised by how Obama is governing? He has absolutely no intention of compromising ... and believe me, when he appears to have compromised it was the 'settlement' he was willing to accept after his high-balled offer was refused. That way the opposition could take away a faux sense of having actually won something, and the MSM could wildly praise Obama for his selfless, masterful and benevolent leadership. After all, it is the MSM's job to make sure he succeeds...

And from the left that are part of the Obama agenda engine that seem to find taking an oath of office to uphold and focus on the U.S. Constitution while carrying-out their daily jobs, yet, scoff at those who point out when they are governing far outside their boundaries within that Constitution to the Obama sycophants in the MSM that believe only republicans are unconstitutional whenever they do something, the blank stare and blinking eyes of surprise...

No shit! Now go back over the last three years and review everything that has been done by this administration from "Fast and Furious" to defying federal judges regarding drilling moratoriums to suing individual states for passing laws that state they will uphold federal laws already on the books to raiding private businesses operating within the law and confiscating property to the Libya "kinetic" military operation to collaborating with unions to funneling "stimulus" tax dollars to campaign bundlers via "green energy" companies that then go bankrupt to the TSA groping of private citizens against their Fourth Amendment rights to the DHS increases in privacy violations to the DOJ's AG picking and choosing what laws his office will and will not enforce, and with whom...

Meanwhile, let me just offer the now puzzled MSM that has dogged the American people as racists in their growing anger with Obama a very huge and heartfelt "F*ck You Very Much" for their initial campaigning for the bastard in 2008, their bed-pan water carrying for him over these last three years, and their sweaty balls as they try their damnedest to get him re-elected over the next several months as gas prices at the pump head for triple what they were when the SOB came into office, families go to the grocery store and pay twice as much for half what they used to buy when the SOB came into office, and once again explain to their kids why the family is taking yet another "stay-cation" at home in the backyard while the Obamas continue to fly wherever the hell they damn-well please on endless vacations and holidays on the taxpayers' dime as our backs are breaking.

Blogger Iowahawk has (his usual) brilliant satirical take on these disillusioned "Hope and Change" Obama "The One" Messiah sycophants...

"I'm Beginning to Believe This Obama Fellow Is Unequal to the Task" - by T. Coddington Van Voorhees VII

If you will allow me literary license here (hey, just taking Michelle Obama's advice and changing my conversation) to make an analogy by using a dialog exchange from the 1979 movie "ALIEN" between Lt. Ripley (played by you and me) and science officer Ash (played by the MSM) as the subject of Barack Obama is discussed...

Ash (MSM): Well, as I said, I'm still... collating, actually, but uh, I have confirmed that he's got an outer layer of protein polysaccharides. Has a funny habit of shedding his cells and replacing them with polarized silicon, which gives him a prolonged resistance to adverse environmental conditions. Is that enough?

Ripley (You and Me): That's plenty. What does it mean?

[...]

Ash (MSM): Well, it's an interesting combination of elements making him a... tough little son-of-a-bitch.

Ripley (You and Me): And you let him in.

"F*ck You Very Much", MSM and all Obama enablers and sycophants. This nation's troubles are on your heads as well. He couldn't have done it without you.

Can't believe it has taken Noonan THIS long to inch out of the progressive funny farm. Typical RINO.

"My outrage is with those "conservative" commentators that were more than willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt."

Just a reminder" it wasn't just "conservative" commentators that suffered from that defect but the very 2008 GOP candidate running against Obama whose campaign consisted mostly of calls for comity while throwing as many conservatives as he could under the bus. He tolerated no criticism of Obama.

And now we are having that same problem again in 2012. The GOP establishment has again won its war against conservatives in succeeding to cram not must another liberal Democrat down our throats, but the very architect of ObamaCare who is disliked by 2/3rds of likely GOP voters.

Why should we vote for these guys? Both will take us to the same place. I don't care what uniform the bus driver is wearing as he drives us over the cliff. How do we avoid going over the cliff?

We avoid it by voting very strong conservatives into congress. If we get enough of those representing us from all over the country, the president will follow that lead. Look at those whom the Club for Growth recommends and, if you have such a choice, pick that one.

Anyone reading my comments knows that Romney was not my first choice. But I think he will be okay for us. He will take Obama on in the debates and on the campaign trail, something McCain refused to do. He will cut taxes and spending, not as deeply as we would like, but he will certainly be an improvement on Obama. He will support Israel and not leak things to undermine Israel. He will support Cuba and not be for opening trade to them, as far as I know.
It will be up to the voters to keep his conservative side as the dominant one. He wants to be a successful president. We will vote for ABO, and we must vote! No squeamishness here. If Rubio endorsed Romney, perhaps Rubio sees what I am seeing.

Noonan and others like her want it both ways, which means they can’t be trusted or believed. They are essentially useless, but they can do harm and are simply not respectable. A true believer in Obama at least has the integrity of honestly being wrong. People like Noonan have no integrity, because they’re too insecure, too needy or too opportunistic. They may mean well, up to a point, but they’re too weak to stand, as it were, and their need to fit in and be accepted, or at least not “look too bad,” basically emasculates them. In a way, they’re very sad. Always remember what Jesus said about the hot, the cold and the lukewarm. Noonan and her kind are lukewarm.
