“Fidel Castro is a Bad*ss!” Squeals Bill Maher while agreeing with Guillen
Bill Maher piles on Miami Marlin’s Ozzie Guillen!.....His defense, that is.
Ah yes, the old, the tried and "true": “he defied those Yankee bullies! He foiled their gazillion assassination attemps!...What a Badass!”
And you will never guess what else Maher touched upon!...and you will never ever guess his position on the issue!..
Why the “embargo” of course!....and he went right down the line, parroting the establishment talking points flawlessly, right down to the "ands" and 'thes" !
In expressing his viewpoint on the so-called “embargo” of Cuba —this self-promoted “feisty gadfly,” this strutting and preening “insurgent,” subserviently recites talking points handed down by the most powerful political-Media juggernaut in modern U.S. history. He’s parroting the position promoted by the following outsiders, nonconformists, free-spirits and Bohemians:
The Council on Foreign Relations, the Carlyle Group, the Congressional Black Caucus, Archer-Daniels-Midland, The Brookings Institute, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the entire Farm Lobby, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Wall Street journal, The United Nations, The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, The World Council of Churches, The Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the the Vatican. Bill Maher has gotten on board with an issue that united (the late) Bill Buckley and Gore Vidal, Chris Dodd and Larry Craig, Pat Buchanan and Antonio Villaraigosa, George Will and Noam Chomsky, The Brookings Institution and the Cato Institute, the Wall Street Journal and The Nation, The U.S. Communist Party and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. All of these oppose the so-called U.S. embargo of Cuba.
What an “outspoken iconoclast! that Bill Maher! What an "outsider!"--and what a “brave and edgy!” one!
Bill Maher has a large and intrepid staff—at least he used to. After arranging my four PI gigs and after spending plenty time in ABC greenroom with some of them quaffing (FREE!!!) Heinekens, I certainly got that impression. If those folks are still around, Bill Maher should have them look up a little actual history.

"Wasn't Che the real badass in Cuba?" ~ Bill Maher
... NO
Bill Maher is an absolute asshole. There are so many people who have been fired/ruined for expressing opinions:
-Marge Schott, the former owner of the Cincinnati Reds for saying Hitler was good when he first rose to power.
-Lou Dobbs had to resign from CNN for reports on illegal immigration that our dear Latino brothers and sisters objected to
-John Galliano was fired from the House of Dior for making anti-Semitic remarks while in a drunk stupor.
But somehow, Cuban Americans are the only ones that become the brunt of a vicious attack. That hypocrit's flippancy is absolutely unforgivable.
There's no point bemoaning someone like Maher. The thing to do is for all Cubans who pay for HBO to cancel their subscription and tell HBO it's because they find Maher offensive. That's the only thing that will make any impact.
Asombra, you are absolutely right. Hurt then where the pocket is. But, alas, that's something Cubans never do. I don't know if they lack discipline or they can't put off satisfaction or what? The Miami Herald is a classic example. For years that horrible rag viciously attacked Cuban-Americans and for years, Cubans kept on buying the Herald. And look at the Miami Archdiocese. They do nothing to stop Wenski even though they make up the majority of the Catholic parish in Miami.
If I were God for today, tomorrow morning Maher would wake up holding number #142 en la cola para el picadillo de soya.
