Video: Cardinal Jaime Ortega at Harvard

For those of you who have the constitution to endure it, here is a video of Cardinal Jaime Ortega y Alamino’s remarks at Harvard University earlier this week where he called for patience in regards to the “reforms” of the Castro dictatorship in Cuba and referred to Cuban human rights activists as “low class delinquents.”

  1. According to a former colonel involved in high-level internal intelligence work for the Castro regime, who apparently defected and was interviewed on TV in Miami (the video is posted in blogs such as Baracutey Cubano and Zoé Valdés), Cardinal Ortega was already known as an active homosexual at the time of the first papal visit in 1998, and was considered “safe” or “not a problem” by the regime because he could be blackmailed. This colonel claims Ortega had a sexual partner who was, in fact, a government agent. Obviously, this colonel is tainted as a former Castro operative, and may or may not be telling the truth, but it would hardly serve the regime’s purposes to have Ortega falsely accused of acting under government coercion, which would spoil the official narrative. Incidentally, the ex-colonel also said that other prominent figures in the Castro system are/were subject to sexually-related blackmail, including Eusebio Leal (homosexual) and a very prominent general (into lesbians in action). I know this is all rather sordid, but it’s out there.

  2. The colonel’s name is Roberto Ortega, and he was interviewed on the “Maria Elvira Live” show.
