A Little Movie About A War for Religious Freedom…

The summer season is starting at the nation's box offices. While some of the bigger budgeted movies are yet to be released (the much anticipated sorta-kinda sequel to the "ALIEN" saga, "Prometheus", and "Madagascar 3" begin this weekend), a little movie about a little-known war in Mexico managed to crack the nation's Top 10 last weekend in its opening.

"For Greater Glory", starring actor Andy Garcia, centered around Mexico's Cristero War is demanding attention and respect. But not just from economically-pinched movie-goers ... but from Hollywood. You see, people really do want movies with stories of substance.

I have a couple on my list to see on the big screen (Sorry to NYC's movie goers that are forbidden from getting any soft drinks over 16ozs ... You'll just have to miss some important scenes while you head back to the snack bar several times for another 16 ozs of thirst-quenching). I will hopefully be heading off to "Prometheus" opening night, and intend to hand over the extra bucks for the 3D version, as somebody has strongly suggested. The others will have to wait until my daughter's wedding is completed. But "For Greater Glory" is next when I resume.

A little movie about a relatively unknown war for religious freedom... Whodda thunk it, huh? Hello ... Hollywood?
