Cuba – A Resort Island

For Cubans who live under the tyrannical dictatorship of the Castro regime, Cuba is an island slave plantation where 11 million people struggle to feed, clothe, and shelter themselves while suffering violent repression, beatings, imprisonment, and murder. It is literally hell on earth with no escape other than throwing oneself into the shark infested waters of the Florida Straits in hopes of finding liberty on American shores.

For callous and shameless tourists, however, Cuba is a resort island:

Cuba - A Resort Island

Cuba offers numerous options for the tourist. Modern and ancient towns, culture, architecture, heritage, conventions and incentives, diving, fishing, health and nature tourism, as well as many top quality resorts.

The largest island of the Antilles, has more than 300 kilometers of natural beaches. Added to this, there are also the equally impressive offerings of the keys. The beaches are bathed all year by the sun, perfect for those who like to sunbath on the shore, or for those who want to scrutinize the sea's deepest secrets while diving.

The islands offer excellent white sand beaches which are always a unique attraction for Cuba holidays. They are all immense, surrounded by mountains or in the form of low cliffs, always dazzling, with an average temperature around 24.6 degrees celsius,

Maria la Gorda and Key Levisa (Pinar del Rio), Beaches of the East in Havana (only 20 minutes from the center of the capital), Varadero (Matanzas), the northern keys of Ciego de Avila (Key Coco and Key Guillermo) and in Villa Clara (Keys Santa Maria, Ensenachos and Las Brujas), Ancon, in Trinidad, Rancho Luna, in Cienfuegos, Santa Lucia, in Camaguey, Guardalavaca, Esmeralda and Pesquero, in Holguin; Marea del Portillo (Granma) and Baconao beaches in Santiago de Cuba.

At the head of the Cuban beaches stands the resort of Varadero, with a strip of sand of about twenty kilometers, more than 50 hotels, several marinas, and the only professional golf course in the country.

Very fashionable is Key Santa Maria, where recently the XXXII International Tourism Fair of Cuba FITCUBA 2012 was held. This island paradise is part of the Keys of Villa Clara, the youngest destination for holidays to Cuba. Another area virtually unexplored is Key Guillermo, 18 square kilometers, and located at the north of the province of Ciego de Avila. It is part of the destination Jardines del Rey, considered to be one of the fastest-growing places in the country's tourism sector.

Key Guillermo has five kilometers of beautiful beaches, one of them named in honor of El Pilar, yacht of the same name of the famous American novelist Ernest Hemingway. Peculiarities of the key are the dunes of up to 16 meters high and a rich flora that includes species such as mahogany, and juniper seedlings. These and other options make Cuba one of the favorite Caribbean destinations for beach lovers, adventure sports and nature.
