So, what if you are a failed sitting POTUS and your GOP opponent is gaining on you in the polls, and you cannot run on your dismal record, and you cannot play the "Blame Bush" card?

Well, you pull the "First Black President Bill Clinton" card out of your sleeve ...

Seeing as how President Obama’s economic strategies have most definitely not worked, the Democrats are bringing out former President Bill Clinton for a prime-time speaking slot at their national convention — presumably so he can tout his “Hey, I’m a Democrat and we had balanced budgets and a robust economy during my tenure, ergo I have authority on the economy issue and I’m for Obama!” credentials.

Democratic party officials tell CNN and other outlets that Bill Clinton will be given a key, prime-time slot during this summer’s Democratic National Convention to make a forceful defense of President Obama’s economic policies at a time when the national unemployment rate is hovering around 8 percent.

Sources tell the Associated Press that Obama personally asked Clinton to speak at the convention and to place Obama’s name in nomination, an offer the former president enthusiastically accepted. Clinton’s expected to take center stage in Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 5, the third day of the four-day convention.

A team of genealogists has found evidence that President Barack Obama could be a descendent of an African slave — but not through the lineage of his black father, the most likely route researchers had followed and exhausted.

The link, genealogists with Ancestry.com said Monday, is, in fact, through an examination of his white mother's family history.

"We were surprised and excited to make that connection," said Joseph Shumway, a member of the Utah-based Ancestry.com team.

Obama's father was from Kenya and his mother was from Kansas. It had been generally assumed that the president had no slave ancestors because researchers couldn't find it through the lineage of his father. However, no one had yet performed any exhaustive research into the lineage of his white mother, who turns out to have a mixed-raced family history.

Ancestry.com now said the maternal line traces back to one of the first documented African slaves in the U.S.

The company said Obama could be the 11th great-grandson of John Punch, an African slave in colonial Virginia. He is believed to have had children with a white woman, starting a family line that led generations later to Obama's mother.

The White House declined comment Monday.

I am wondering how Obama is REALLY polling among 'black' voters ... and democrats in general?
